Mission Statement: The mission of IMSLE is to provide quality MSL accredited teacher training and coursework based on the Orton Gillingham approach adapted for teachers, tutors and other allied professionals.
The Associate MSL professional development course provides instruction based on:
●The Orton Gillingham approach, a phonetic, linguistics based, structured and multisensory approach for teaching reading and spelling.
●It is a systematic and cumulative approach involving intensive reinforcement for optimum long-term results.
●MSL can be used in inclusive setting, small groups and one to one with children, teens and adults. This course includes a self-paced and guided practicum. MSL lessons, diagnostic tools for selection, pre and post monitoring are included.
●The Associate course also includes relevant required readings to ensure that trainees are well informed on current scientific and educational research in the areas of literacy, language and dyslexia.
Suitable Applicants: This course is open to suitably qualified teachers, tutors, speech and language pathologists, psychologists, teacher aides and others interested in multisensory language instruction. This course is suitable for parents and participants with little or no previous Orton Gillingham based training.
IMSLE Pre-Requisite for MSL Accreditation: Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
