Marriage Encounter April 20-22
Falling in love comes easy. Staying in love requires deliberate action, directed thought, knowledge and practice. Even the prized trophy on the mantle loses its luster and appeal if it is left to tarnish or handled carelessly.
Many couples have learned how to love smart—bringing life and passion back into a “routine” marriage, excitement and challenge into a “boring” relationship — by attending a United Methodist / Marriage Encounter weekend.
Described as a “crash course in communications,” the Marriage Encounter weekend concentrates on teaching valuable relationship skills in harmony with Christian faith and Methodist understanding, illustrated through the personal experiences of the presenting couples (two to three lay couples and one United Methodist clergy couple). Each couple then explores concepts from the presentations privately.
The next United Methodist Marriage Encounter weekend for New York will be held April 20-22 at the Asbury United Methodist Retreat Center, Silver Lake, NY. The weekend begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening and lasts until 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Meals are provided. Weekends are led by committed volunteer couples rather than counseling professionals; couples that found their own marriages radically changed because of their weekend experiences.
A application fee of $50 is required to secure your place. At the end of your weekend you will be given an opportunity to make a confidential donation toward the cost of the weekend.
