"Practical overview on European and US trademark, design, copyright andunfair competition law. Special focus on requirements, scope and limits of each regime. The presentations intend to lay down the playing field for protection of productappearance and start a discussion on what problems IP lawyers have to face with, especially in planning to cover all possible regimes."

Guest Speakers:

Nuno Sousa e Silva (LL.M. IP)(Munich) is a young lawyer in Portugal, working forPTCS Advogados and since 2013 a guest lecturer of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto) where he teaches "European Intellectual Property Law". He graduated from the Law School of Catholic University of Portugal in 2011 and in April 2013 heconcluded his Master of Laws degree at the same University with a thesis on the concept of trade secrecy. Studied at Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC)where he obtained his LLM degree in Intellectual Property and Competition Law organized by Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, Augsburg University, Technical University of Munich and George Washington University. His master thesis covered the ownership problems of overlapping IP protections. He has published articles in the areas of Public Procurement and Intellectual Property. His fields of research cover convergence and overlaps in Intellectual Property, the interface of copyright and new technologies and unfair competition.

Dr. Adam György(LL.M. IP) (Munich) is young trademark and design lawyer who's field of research covers European and US trademark and design law. He worked as trainee with number of IP experts at various law firms, like Hogan Lovells Alicante Cia, (Alicante),BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT Anwaltssozietät (Munich) and SBGK Patent and Law Offices (Budapest). After finishing his JD degree at ELTE (Budapest), he studied at Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC)where he obtained his LLM degree in Intellectual Property and Competition Law organized by Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, Augsburg University, Technical University of Munich and George Washington University. After finishing his LL.M. degree he joinedBARDEHLE PAGENBERGPartnerschaft (Munich)and working as a trainee lawyer at the design and trademark law department with Dr. Henning Hartwig Rechtsanwalt who is the author and editor of the 4 volume Design Protection in Europe series.
