Plot Synopsis / Student provides a concise plot synopsis that is in their own words and shows clear understanding of what happened in film. / Student provides a good plot synopsis that is clear and to the point. / Student gives basic plot synopsis (who, what, where, when and why). Beginning, middle and end. Some parts may be unclear.
Analysis/Discussion / Student does not just say what they liked and didn't like but clearly explains the why behind their preferences. Highlights themes and character development throughout the film. Student discusses the significance of the film in detail and writes with clarity. / Student explains what they like and do not like and give a clear reason. Some areas may need to be elaborated on but paper on the whole discusses all of the required criteria. / Student discusses why they like certain parts and not others but explanations are short and some areas are shallow. An attempt to discuss the theme and some character development.
Cultural impact / Student makes clear connections between the 1980s film and today going beyond plot similarities and film alone. Also highlights film's significance to other films at the time. / Student makes connections between the 1980s film and today and looking at plot and making some attempt to discuss impact beyond the film. / Student makes connections between the 1980s film and today but some connections may be shallow.
