Victor W Donaldson – Biography
Vic is an accomplished businessperson who has been at the forefront of establishing contacts and business in a cross-cultural business environment since 1990. Before taking on the role of Division Manager-Industrial, Vic started as the Business Development Manager for SCOTT Construction. Prior to this, Vic owned and managed Designed Steel Structures Inc., a design-build general contracting company. Vic has a successful track record of meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal businesses in designing, organizing, managing and constructing facilities for various businesses and industries.
Vic is a member of CAMA (Canadian Aboriginal Mining Assoc.), United Native Nations, Tsimshian First Nations, (the Metlakatla Band) in north-western BC. He is also on the Board of Directors of VanAsep (Vancouver Aboriginal Skills Employment Partnership), a construction career training society for young aboriginals. Most recently, Vic was chosen as a mentor for the CCAB Mentorship Pilot Program. He was born on Vancouver Island and has lived in some of the remote villages on the BC coast such as Tahsis, Alert Bay, Sointula and Rivers Inlet. He moved to Vancouver to finish high school where he graduated from Sir Charles Tupper High School.
Vic has held various positions and appointments with the Free Masons Society and the Shriners of North America - philanthropic organizations, including: Past Master – Blue Mountain Lodge; member Vancouver Lodge of Perfection; 32nd degree Scottish Rite; member of the Gizeh Shrine Temple; member of the Executive Committee – Tsawwassen Shrine Club.
He holds a certificate from VANSEC – a sales & marketing program at the University of British Columbia and has completed several other sales and marketing programs including; Sales and Marketing Executives at UBC, Key Account Planning & Management, and the Xerox Sales Training course at Leesburg, Virginia. Vic is an accomplished building designer (steel building systems), entrepreneur, and business manager.
Vic’s expertise in industrial construction and steel building systems has helped Scott Construction grow its Industrial division to become a major force in this industry. Vic is on the Executive team at Scott and is actively involved in forming the corporate strategic goals for the company each year. His first hand knowledge of First Nations culture allows him to bridge the ever present concerns of construction/development on First Nations land, with the issues of environmental impacts, sustainability, Aboriginal culture, and the management of Band resources and labour forces.
Other interests include self-improvement studies, volunteering, golf – (a member of the Vancouver Golf Club), and boating - Power Squadron Member.
Vic is proud of his accomplishments and his Tsimshian First Nation heritage; he is married (to his high school sweetheart) where he lives with his wife Mary, in Crescent Beach, South Surrey, BC.
