Principal’s Summary:
This month we conducted the last two district NTI Rubric training days. The teachers learned about the descriptors in the indicators Teacher Content Knowledge, Teacher Knowledge of Students, and Managing Student Behavior. The teachers reflected on their lesson plans and management styles then compared them to the descriptors on the rubric. Circle Cross Ranch 4-8 grade teachers completed the remaining components of the Engineering Design Process. They learned about the Create and Improve portion of the cycle. The teachers are looking forward to creating their engineering designs during the next cluster meeting. Holly Dalby attended the "Got Data, Now What?" conference which will help improve the data discussions held during PLC’s. Rebecca Hendry, Tricia Desourdy, 6th grade teacher and Teri Acton, special education teacher, attended the AZ Assistive Technology Conference and was able to bring back lots of great resources for our RTI binders. The first week of Fall Intersession a group of 6 representatives will attend the PBIS training in order to begin year 1 implementation.
Unfortunately, the softball and baseball seasons came to an end early on. Our baseball team defeated the Florence Gophers, in the first round of the playoffs, to move on to the second round verses Walker Butte. In a heartbreaking loss, they bowed out of the playoff picture. The boys worked hard all season and never let a loss get them down. The softball team lost in the first round, in a nail-biter, to Skyline Ranch. The girls played their hearts out and never quit. Both coaches look forward to next season and an opportunity to build upon the skills taught this season.
Our (A.I.M.) Achievement is Mandatory program finished up on Thursday, September 10th. Even with a late start, the program proved to be successful at the end. Only nine students will have to participate in our Credit Recovery program. Again, this is a drastic reduction from first quarter last year, when over 40 students were assigned to Credit Recovery. Two teachers have been gracious enough to donate their time after school to run the program. We are excited to start the program up a week into the second quarter and reduce the number of students having to attend Credit Recovery.
Parent-teacher conferences were a success. We had a full house on Tuesday and Wednesday. Many teachers gave feedback on the new schedule of conferences this year and they loved having the late night on Tuesday and the early day on Wednesday. It was a fantanstic set-up. We had the annual fall book fair open during conference week as well. Michelle Pappalardo did an excellent job orgainizing a successful book fair for our school.
Last we finished our Lip Dub taping on Tuesday before break. Richard Franco and Andrea Querry, our student council sponsor, led the charge for the 3-hour event. We are looking forward to seeing the final product.
