Section I. Multiple-Choice

Directions: Each of the following questions or incomplete statements is followed by five suggested answers or completions. Select the one that is best in each case and then fill in the corresponding oval on the answer sheet.

On the test, there will be 40 multiple-choice questions, and you will have 30 minutes to work on this section.

Section II. Free-Response Question – Change/Continuities over Time Essay

Directions: You are to answer the following question. You should spend 5 minutes organizing or outlining your essay. Write an essay that has a relevant thesis and supports that thesis with appropriate historical evidence, addresses all parts of the question, and uses historical context to show change over time and continuities.

On the test, there will be a essay question with options for you to choose societies to discuss change and continuity over time, and you will have 45 minutes to work on this section.
