Based on Article 68, paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, at its session held on 4 February 2010, adopted the following

D E C L A R A T I O N

FOR SUPPORT OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT RESOLUTION ON SREBRENICA FROM 15 JANUARY 2009

Expressing its strong commitment to build the relations between the countries based on good-neighbourly relations and peaceful cooperation;

Believing that reconciliation, lasting peace among the nations, stability and prosperity in the region are the preconditions for continuation of the process of integration in the European and Euro-Atlantic structures;

Guided by the generally accepted standards of the international law, the principles of justice, righteousness and equality of the citizens regardless of their religion or nationality;

Having regard to the obligation of the Republic of Macedonia for cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for prosecution of persons responsible for serious violations of international humanitarian law committed on the territory of former Yugoslavia since 1991;

Respecting consistently the obligations of the Republic of Macedonia deriving from the Stabilizatuion and Association Agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Communities and its member-states, concluded on 9 April 2001;

The Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia

1.  Supports the European Parliament Resolution on Srebrenica, adopted on 15 January 2009;

2.  Shall commemorate appropriately 11 July - the day of Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide, in honour of the victims of the massacre;

3.  This Declaration shall be forwarded to the President of the European Parliament and to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina;

4.  This Declaration shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia.
