Synopsis:

The permanently ravenous Francis Henshall finds himself working for both a gangster and a criminal in hiding, both of whom are linked in a web of schemes, extortions and romantic associations. To prevent discovery, Francis must do everything he can to keep his two guvnors apart.

Cast:

FRANCIS(Playing Age 30's - 40's): A portly, lovable buffoon. In an attempt to get more lunches he finds himself struggling to please two bosses. A very funny and very physical role with some improvisation.South London accent.
STANLEY STUBBERS(Playing Age 30's) - One of Francis' guvnors, an upper class criminal.

RACHEL CRABBE(Playing Age 20's - 30's):Francis’ other Guvnor. Disguised as her dead twin brother Roscoe, she bears an uncannyresemblance to Ringo Starr.

HARRY DANGLE(Playing Age 50's - 60's):Crooked, Latin-speaking, solicitor to the Clenches.
CHARLIE “THE DUCK” CLENCH(Playing Age 50’s): Gangster, extremely tight with money.
LLOYD BOATENG(Playing Age 40’s – 50’s): A Jamaican ex-con and friend to Charlie Clench.
PAULINE CLENCH(Playing Age 20’s – 30’s): Charlie Clench's daughter, pretty and not very bright.

ALAN(Playing Age 20's - 30's): Harry Dangle's son and Pauline's fiancé́, an aspiring thespian who is always performing.
DOLLY(Playing Age 30's - 40's): Charlie Clench's bossy, voluptuous, and feminist secretary, Francis' love interest.
GARETH(Playing Age 30's - 50's): A trained head waiter. May be double cast as driver.
ALFIE(Playing Age 80's - played by a younger actor): A slow and doddering waiter. The role is very physically demanding.

Held in the main auditorium at 16th Ave Theatre

Rehearsal Days and Times:

Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights 7pm(commencingthe end of August date TBC)

Sunday 6th and Sunday 13th November rehearsals start at 4pm

(these are approximate days and times and may vary slightly if necessary)

All rehearsals will be held at 16th Ave Theatre.

About the show:

  • Based on the Carlo Goldoni play The Servant of Two Masters written in the 1700’s
  • Approximately 2 hours 15 min long with 20 minute interval
  • Includes a skiffle band who play at the start of the show, between scenes and at the end
  • We would like some of the cast to be able to join the band for some songs – musical and/or singing abilities would be a benefit (but not a necessity)
  • One Man, Two Guvnors will be part of the theatres 80th birthday celebrations and includes a Gala night in the 26th November

Important notes:

  • Allthe cast and crew of this awesome show must become (if you are not already) a member of 16th Ave Theatre prior to rehearsals starting
  • If cast in the show you must be available for all rehearsals (unless otherwise arranged) and of course available all of the production dates
  • If you are not available for any rehearsal dates please let us know during your auditions
  • While talent is the primary consideration when casting, a high level of commitment is essential. Our final choices for all roles will be made with this firmly in mind.
  • This is a bloody funny show and it is going to be hilarious to put together – all the best for your auditions!

  • 20th August, 1-3pm for the character of FRANCIS (and please be available for possible callback on 21st August 1-3pm)
  • 21st August, 1-3pm for all other characters
  • Please register for an audition time by emailing the director . Please provide your name, stage age, character/s auditioning for, any dates not available during rehearsal period
  • Come prepared – scripts and audition pieces will be available to all those registered
  • ACCENTS: Francis – cockney accent. Unless stated in description all other characters have anEstuary English accent (between RP and Cockney) – more info – click here
