Klöber manufactures office seating to suit the highest requirements
Klöber has been designing, developing and manufacturing top quality innovative office seating for 80 years. Backed by decades of expertise as well as a great passion for comfortable and healthy sitting, the 140-strong workforce creates seating solutions at the company’s Owingen site on the shores of Lake Constance. The high ratio of hand finishing ensures quality down to the finest detail, as well as convincing design and function.
In 1935 Margarete Klöber – who was then 25 – founded the company as a health chair factory in Überlingen in a bid to make sitting in offices healthier. Soon after this, her first chair, “Polstergleich”, went into production. The brand became internationally known for this sprung wooden chair, which provided outstanding sitting comfort for its time. Since then, the long-standing company from Lake Constance, which is now based in Owingen, has been concentrating on its core competence: optimum office seating solutions.
With an innovative spirit and a wealth of expertise
Behind every “genuine” Klöber there is a meticulous development process. Right from the first idea, the designers, developers, draughtsmen, master craftsmen and employees work together as a team. The goal is always to create balanced products that are a practical combination of timeless and classic styling, a long life cycle, ergonomic principles and innovative functions. Many years of experience and up-to-date knowledge about sitting, people's habits and requirements in the office flow into every detail: following these principles, numerous patented functions and features that make sitting more comfortable, user-friendly and straightforward are still being created today.
Production with a manufacturing character
A high ratio of hand finishing characterises the production process of all seating products at the Owingen site. This is the only way to guarantee top quality standards down to the finest detail. The expertise of the employees is a key factor here. Many of them have been working there for several decades – and they know every step, every product and every detail. The people at Klöber live for their products, the company and its customers.
Locally based – globally valued
Classics on the market and numerous products that have received high-calibre international design awards for form and function bear out the success of the seating produced on the shores of Lake Constance. The high quality “made in Germany” is a significant reason why Klöber chairs are valued in more than 25 countries worldwide today. The Managing Director is Brian Boyd. The company was family-owned until the end of the nineties. Klöber has been an independent company within the Sedus Stoll Group since 1999. Klöber products are available exclusively from qualified office supplies dealers.
