JOB TITLE: LEARNING SUPPORT WORKER

LOCATION: Camtrust, 22 Cambridge Road, Impington CB24 9NU

HOURS: 28 per week

SALARY: circa £13,000

Reporting to: Training Supervisor

Job Overview

To support the Training Supervisor in the delivery of courses in employability and independent living skills to adults with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

To participate in the full range of Camtrust activities including ICT, cooking, retail, arts and crafts and fundraising events.

Please note, use of a car and possession of a full, clean UK Driving Licence is essential for this position

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To support the process of teaching and learning by helping in the monitoring and regulating of client activity
  • To prepare for sessions by gathering and collating materials, equipment etc, as required
  • To assist with the recording and maintaining of daily records of client progress and achievement
  • To note and pass on to the relevant personnel any issues/concerns regarding the behaviour and wellbeing of clients
  • To operate as a team member
  • To monitor the health and safety of the clients
  • To participate in appropriate opportunities for staff development
  • To share pastoral duties with the staff team and liaise with carers as necessary
  • To attend meetings and reviews as required
  • To supervise clients on work experience placements
  • To support clients in extra-mural activities such as outings, attend fundraising events and undertake other such duties as requested

Qualifications

  • A minimum of grade C in GCSE (or equivalent qualification) Mathematics and English

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • High level of ICT skills
  • Good written and verbal skills and an ability to present clear information
  • The ability to plan and deliver activities and adapt teaching styles to facilitate learning
  • To be able to form good relationships with people from a variety of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds with a range of disabilities
  • To be committed to equal opportunities for all and support people who have received unfair treatment because of their gender, race, sexuality, disability or age.

Desirable

  • Experience in supporting adults with disabilities to develop skills for independent living
  • Fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of Photoshop/InDesign (Mac)
