July 2016

I’d like to invite you to think back to your time in the Miamisburg Color Guard. Recall the hours spent in the gym rehearsing and even more hours working on your own. Remember all the performances, the cheers, the standing ovations you received. Imagine the other young ladies standing around you. They were your guard sisters, you were a team and you created bonds that could not be broken.

Alumni of the Miamisburg Color Guard have a story about their time performing. Each performer’s journey is personal, but all can relate to the lessons learned. You discovered the self-confidence to perform in front of a huge audience. You learned to be independent, but act as part of a team. You found the way to a goal was through hard work and persistence. You were given a place to belong. You were part of a legendary organization that remains one of the most successful and longest running scholastic color guards in the world.

The Miamisburg Color Guard Organization now has ensembles for all school aged performers – elementary, junior high and high school. Each year, over sixty students are involved in color guard. This year’s performers are on their own journey now. Some are taking their first few steps, while our seniors are writing the final chapter to their guard story.

To keep the Miamisburg Color Guards competing at the highest level, it takes an enormous amount of effort from the Boosters. The strength and success of this program directly depends upon the funding we receive from donors and the community. We strive to keep our fees low, in order to allow as many students to participate as possible. In fact, no student has ever been turned away based on their family’s financial situation, making it a program fully committed to our members and the community’s youth.

That is why this year, on November 18, the organization will be wrapping up the 2016 Fund Drive to support the best Color Guard program in the region. The Association is hosting their 3rd annual Gala – An Evening with the Outlaws at Canopy Creek Farm LLC in Miamisburg, Ohio. They would love to have the support of alumni at the Gala. Included is information on this event, as well as a reservation card. Please fill it out and return it today, as space is limited. If you are unable to attend the Gala, please consider becoming a sponsor. The young members of the Miamisburg Color Guards need help from those who have come before them. Sponsorship information is also included.

As the current High School Director, I know these young performers will make you proud as they are starting the 2016-2017 season. Please keep in touch through our Miamisburg High School Color Guard Alumni Facebook page. Look for posts about show themes, performance schedules and other fundraising opportunities.

My sincerest thanks,
