THE GARAGE LAUNCHES NEW SEASON FOCUSING ON LOCAL TALENT

The Garage has launched its new season of events. Summer performances have a decidedly local flavour with The Garage giving a platform to some of the region’s most talented artists in a celebration of great new art; ThisEgg present Goggles [A work-in-progress] (29 April) a heart-warming show that teases out the awkwardness of love, the award-winning Limbik Theatre looks into the future and wonders where we might be heading in The Forecast [A work-in-progress](3 May)incorporating imagery, object manipulation and song, and the new Scratch Night(15 April) in association with All-In Productions and REDuckProDUCKtionssupported by Arts Council Englandis a fantastically fast showcase of work from 4 companies across an eclectic range of disciplines.

Also in the theatre this season catch Idiots(16 April), a wonderfully anarchic reimagining of the trailblazing author Dostoyevsky’s life and works from upcoming company Caligula’s Alibi, Rights of Passage(15 June) is an inspirational verbatim piece created entirely from interviews with LGBT asylum seekers presented byArtemis Theatre Company, local-born artist Tim Belland Havoc Theatre bring Dame Nature – The Magnificent Bearded Lady (1 July), a poignant off-kilter show for people who don’t like to judge a woman by her beard, and The Sun Apparatus Theatre Company return with the final production of The ME (29 + 30 July), a show whichThe Garage has supported since early 2015.

If you are looking toward summer and want to get fit or start a new hobby, the classes programme has something for all ages, abilities and levels starting on 18 April. From ballet to theatre skills, street dance to songwriting, The Garage has the perfect creative class for you.

This season, as always, there is a great selection of masterclasses, performances and courses to get involved in. National experts in Actor-MusicianshipDumbWisepresent the Actor-Musician Summer Academy, adding to the opportunities for young performers over the summer months. For the Big Summer Production this year the magical land of Narnia awaits inThe Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, two weeks of theatre fun for ages 7-18 years.
