Operation and Maintenance

Intergra-Mate Maintenance Manual

Expendables

The table below indicates the Sin-Can Inc. recommended maintenance schedule for optimal performance. Failure to properly maintain the Integra-Mate system can result in efficiency reduction, R.O. membrane damage, and decreased water quality.

Component / Catalog Number / Replacement Schedule
Feed Water Pre-Filter #1 / SCMF005-20 / Every 2 months
Feed Water Pre-Filter #2 / SCMF001-20 / Every 2 months
Pre-Filter (Carbon Block) / PF1C-10 / Every 2 months
Post-Filter (Polishing) / PC2000 / Every 2 months
Final Filter (Demicap) / ZEMSB020MMPS3 / Every 2 months
R.O. Cartridge / TFC150 / Every 3 years

Sanitization

Sanitization is carried out as per the schedule noted above; it is not suggested to perform maintenance tasks sooner or later than the time frame above. In the event an intermittent “clicking” sound occurs, this is a low-pressure warning and generally indicates that the filters in the feed water Pre-Filter Unit are blocked and should be changed immediately.

Required Materials

¨  Latex gloves
¨  Safety Glasses
¨  3% Hydrogen Peroxide Solution / ¨  250ml Graduated Cylinder
¨  Replacement Filters
¨  Filter Bowl Wrench

Suggested Guidelines

When performing maintenance, wear latex gloves to eliminate recontamination of the water system. Hydrogen Peroxide can be hazardous if improperly used. Please wear safety glasses and latex gloves to reduce risk of bodily harm. Should skin or eye contact occur, thoroughly flush the exposed area with water.

Sanitization Procedure

Intergra-Mate Maintenance Manual

1)  Close the feed water valve on the feed side of the SCMF005-20 filter housing, and the valve on the reservoir tank.

2)  Unscrew the SCMF005-20 filter bowl (on the feed water Pre-Filter Unit) in a counter-clockwise direction, remove and dispose of the filter.

3)  Pour 150ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution into the housing bowl, and fill the housing with hot water until it is approximately ¾ full.

4)  In a circular motion, gently swirl the hydrogen peroxide-water solution within the filter housing. Slowly pour out the solution, and, as you are doing this rotate the filter bowl, this will allow the solution to flow over the bowl threads and O-ring.

5)  Rinse the filter bowl 4 or 5 times, to thoroughly remove the hydrogen peroxide solution.

6)  Place a new SCMF005-20 filter into the bowl. Screw the bowl back into place, in a clockwise direction.

7)  Repeat Step 2 through 6 of this Section for each remaining filter bowl on the feed water Pre-Filter Unit and Integra-Mate system (i.e. SCMF001-20, PF1C-10, PC2000).

8)  To replace the Demicap Final Filter follow the sub-steps below:

·  Remove the Demicap by unscrewing the compression caps of the top and bottom fittings.

·  Remove the top and bottom fittings on the Demicap. Dispose of the spent Demicap. Crescent wrench may be necessary.

·  Take a new Demicap and wrap with Teflon tape on both threaded ends.

·  Fasten the fittings on the new Demicap in the order you removed them. Do not over-tighten.

·  Replace the Demicap. The compression caps should only be finger tight.

9)  Open the reservoir tank valve to resume normal operation.

Sanitization/Cleaning

Sanitization/cleaning of your Integra-Mate system is performed approximately once a year to preserve the R.O. membrane and eliminate bio-fouling. Bio-fouling tends to occur due to bacterial growth over a long period of time. Also important is to control contamination in the reservoir.

Required Materials

¨  Latex gloves
¨  Safety Glasses
¨  3% Hydrogen Peroxide Solution / ¨  500ml Graduated Cylinder
¨  Replacement Filters
¨  Crescent Wrench

Suggested Guidelines

When performing sanitization procedures, wear latex gloves to eliminate recontamination of the water system. Hydrogen Peroxide can be hazardous if improperly used. Please wear safety glasses and latex gloves to reduce risk of bodily harm. Should skin or eye contact occur, thoroughly flush the exposed area with water.

Sanitization/Cleaning Procedure

1)  Refer to Section "Sanitization Procedure" and follow Steps 1 through 8 in order to thoroughly clean each filter bowl. In addition, saturate 2 or 3 paper towels with hydrogen peroxide and clean the head of the filter housing. Ensure you wipe down the threading and inner section of the housing head.

2)  Replacing the filters. See Section "Sanitization Procedure", Step 6 and Step 8. EXCEPTIONS:

¨  Pre-Filter (PF1C-10): After inserting a new filter, measure out 300ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide, pour it into the filter bowl, and replace the filter bowl.

¨  Post-Filter (PC2000): DO NOT insert a new filter. Dispose of the spent filter and replace the filter bowl. Exposure of hydrogen peroxide to the PC2000 polishing cartridge will damage it.

3)  Close the ball valve on the PC2000 filter housing. Disconnect the polished water line at the point-of-entry to your Roche Diagnostics Integra Unit (if applicable).

4)  Redirect the flow of water from the polished water line into a bucket or directly to drain.

5)  Open the ball valve on the PC2000 filter housing, allowing any remaining water in the reservoir tank to empty into the bucket or directly to drain. When you have completely emptied the reservoir tank, close the ball valve on the PC2000 filter housing.

6)  Open the feed water valve to the R.O. system. At this point you may resume other laboratory duties, as the system will require approximately 2-3 hours to fill the reservoir tank. Although, it is advised to periodically monitor your system.

7)  When the reservoir tank is full, open the ball valve on the PC2000 filter housing, ensuring the water is directed into a bucket or directly to drain.

8)  Close the ball valve on the PC2000 filter housing, and allow the tank to fill again. A 3% hydrogen-peroxide solution is not particularly harmful. However, please allow the reservoir tank to fill at least two times for a thorough flush.

9)  Repeat Step 7 of this Section.

10)  The Integra-Mate system is ready to be brought back online, the following steps will guide you in this process.

¨  Close the feed water valve.

¨  Remove the PC2000 filter bowl and empty the water.

¨  Insert the correct filter (PC2000) and replace the filter bowl.

¨  Reconnect the polished water line to the Roche Integra Unit (if applicable).

¨  Open the feed water valve.

¨  Ensure all valves are open.

¨  LabPure system is ready for regular operation.
