City of Fennville

The regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Fennville was called to order in City Hall at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Pantelleria.

Commissioners Present:Pantelleria, Suerth, Cummins, Slawson, Hayden.

Commissioners Absent: Brien, Machan.

Public present:Colleen Rae; Jennifer Nuernberg, Al-Van Humane Society; Brad Fisher, Scholten Fant.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Approved as printed.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: None.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:Moved Suerth,second Cummins,to approve the minutes of theMarch 21, 2016 meeting as presented. Ayes: All. MOTION CARRIED.Moved Pantelleria, second Slawson to approve the April 4, 2016 minutes omitting the motion for the cemetery bids. Ayes: All. MOTION CARRIED.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Fennville District Library: Reviewed the report.

MTS BLDG Report: Reviewed the report.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

Cemetery Bids: Reviewed the bids. Moved Pantelleria, second Cummins to hire EPS & Landscaping at $400.00 per mowing for the cemetery. Ayes: All. MOTION CARRIED.

Al-Van Humane Society: Jennifer Nuernberg gave a report on the Humane Society which has a 97% no kill.

FINANCIAL/PERSONNEL REPORT: Pantelleria reviewed the budget. Discussion on streets, Hayden would like to speak with MDOT about a bike lane on M-89. Pantelleria would like to set a meeting for Monday May 9, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to work on the budget.

CITY SERVICES: Suerth reported on the FAFD. Concerns with the budget because they are having more calls than usual. Reported on the first responder program hopefully having it licensed by September. Fire Chief would like to attend a fire inspection school. Next meeting is May 5, 2016.

CITY PROPERTIES: No report.

ORDINANCES/COMMUNITY RELATIONS: No report.

PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT: Phenix reported that the Planning Commission met on April 11, 2016. Questions on the street cleaner and school renovations. No problems with street cleaner and the school is under the State jurisdiction for permits.

ADMINISTRATION/DDA: Pantelleria reported on the parking lot expansion, re-districting of the DDA to include the city park and city hall.

Miscellaneous: ISO rating is now a class 4.

ATTORNEY REPORT: Fisher reported on the Utility Service letter and suggested we go into closed session to discuss pending litigation with Huntington Bank. Moved Pantelleria, second Cummins to enter into closed session at 7:57 to discuss Huntington Bank Litigation. Ayes: Pantelleria, Suerth, Cummins, Slawson. Nay: Hayden. MOTION CARRIED. Left closed session at 8:05 p.m.

APPROVAL OF BILLS: MovedPantelleria, second Suerth,to approve payment of bills as printed in the amount of $25,074.14. Ayes: All. MOTION CARRIED.

Meeting adjourned at8:08 p.m. The next meeting of the City Commission will be held on Monday, May 2nd, 2016@ 7:00 p.m.
