As we head into spring and warmer weather, please remember to send your students to school in appropriate clothing (closed toe shoes, mid thigh shorts, etc). If you aren’t sure, please refer to the school dress code policy on page 5 of the Parent/StudentHandbook.

Congratulations to our 2014/15 Oak Chan Employees of the Year, Certificated Employee – Nancy Preto, and our Classified Employee – Berta Edmiston! They will be honored at a district award ceremony in May.

2015 CRAB FEED & AUCTION

Thank you so much to all who attended the Crab Feed last Friday.It was such an amazing event for Oak Chan!Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and attendees for making is a HUGELY successful fundraiser for our school. The largest thank you goes to the Crab Feed chairperson, Cherie Miller, for putting in so much time and effort to make this event so great!She put together a wonderful group, the Crab Feed committee who all worked together to make the event a success. THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

BOOK FAIR

March 23rd–March 27th; Room D

The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is fast approaching and you are all invited to come join us ‘Under the Sea’ as we share in this celebration of literacy!

Our Spring Book Fair will run fromMarch 23rdthrough March 27thinRoom D (PTO Lounge). We will be open during the hours of9:00 am–3:00 pm. You are welcome to drop-in during any of those hours to shop. In addition, we will be open during Oak Chan’s annualOpen HouseonThursday, March 26thfrom5:30 pm–7:00 pm. Also, your child’s teacher is scheduled to bring their class in to visit the Book Fair during the week. Please look in next week’s Wednesday folder for more information about the classroom visits and our online Book Fair.

BOX TOPS

Our Oak Chan box top coordinator, Tracy Fiori,is currently collecting box tops that can earn your student Book Bucks to use at this year’s book fair. For every 25 box tops turned in your child will receive one Book Buck that they can use towards their book fair purchase. Please turn in all box tops in clear plastic baggies labeled with the following:

• Child’s name

• Teacher's name and room number

• Number of box tops

The deadline for turning in box tops for Book Bucks for this Spring's Book Fair is Thursday, March 19th. Please turn in all box tops to the Oak Chan office. Book Bucks will be delivered to your child’s classroom by Monday, March 23rd,so they can be used at the Book Fair!

Monday, April 13th; Located on the Stage from2 pm–7 pm

Bring your sense of creativity and we'll provide the rest. $15 first tile ($10 each additional tile). After firing, tiles will be displayed behind the multipurpose room or may be taken home. Great idea for commemorating completion of kindergarten or last year at Oak Chan. Pre-order sheets will come home in Wednesday folders and will be available in Office, Wednesday, March 18th.

FOURTH GRADE FAMILIES
Our grade will need someone to be Lead Coordinator of Fundraising for the 5th grade, Nature Bridge field trip to Marin Headlands. This position would be a parent working as a school liaisonwith the 4th/5th teachers, the Principal and other volunteers via phone, e-mail and meetings. Knowledge of Excel is desired as the coordinator would also be responsible for keeping the record for each student's fundraising balance. Ideally other volunteers will sign up to lead the various events, and coordinate with the majority of volunteers and students. Committee volunteers will decide upon events and implementation based on parent interest.All proposed fundraising plans are required to be reviewed and approved by Ms. Liebert beforeany fundraiser begins.
