Fruita Little League Parent Code of Conduct

Fruita Little League has adopted the following Code of Conduct for the important message it holds about the proper role of parents in supporting their child in Little League Baseball. Parents should read, understand, and sign this form prior to their child(ren) participating in our league.

Any parent guilty of improper conduct will be asked to correct their behavior according to the procedure set forth below. Failure to comply will result in a request to leave the facility. Penalty of one or more game(s) suspension could result after review from the board of directors.

The coaches and parents are the role models of the kids they are there to support. Managers are responsible for the actions of the fans cheering for their team. Managers are the first line of defense against un-sportsman like conduct at the Little League Park.

Board members are present everyday at the ball park. The board members have the authority to remove any person displaying un-sportsmanlike behavior. There are procedures in place to allow any parent or fan to express an issue with coaching, officiating, or board member behavior. Arguments are not to be held in front of the kids.

Below are the steps the board member on duty is to follow in the case of any fan violating the code of conduct.

  1. Ask the Manager/Coach to speak to the person
  2. Look for another board member or other responsible party to witness the progression of events.
  3. Confront the individual and request they settle down or they will be asked to leave
  4. Suspend the game and ask the person to excuse themselves
  5. Continue with game suspension, call Fruita Police. Once person is gone, allow game to resume
  6. Document the events and have a witness sign it. File with the board.

The Ethics to be supported are:

  • Trustworthiness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility

Therefore I the parent agree:

  1. Children participate to have fun and that the game is for the youth, not the adults.
  2. I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
  3. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  4. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of un-sportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
  5. I will demand my child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
  6. I understand that if my child is disruptive in practices or games (at the discretion of the manager and coach) that they can forfeit playing time as a result.
  7. I will demand a sports environment that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all games and practices.
