Picnic Packets
Your picnic packet with a set of raffle tickets and all the information you need for the parish picnic is now available in the narthex of the church. The gambling laws for the State of Indiana no longer allow us to mail them to you so we ask that you pick yours up in the narthex when they come available.
Nickel Pitch
The Nickel Pitch Booth is in need of donations of glassware and new toys. Items can be left in the Narthex marked “Nickel Pitch”
Silent Auction
The Silent Auction is still in need of donated items (value $35 and up). You can also make financial donations and items will be purchased for the Auction. Donations can be dropped off at the Parish Office or you can contact Shirley Jones or Jeanne Schroeder.

We are in need of 2-liter bottles of name brand soft drinks for the Ring Toss Booth. Catch them when they are on sale! Some of the favorites are Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Big Red and your favorite! They can be left in the narthex of the Church.
Car Raffle
We are very blessed to have, once again, been given a car for our raffle. Carriage Ford of Clarksville has donated a 2014 Ford Focus. It is a program car with 4,409 miles and full warranty until 9/22/2017 or 36,000 miles. It comes with: Sun Roof, Leather Seats, CD Player, Microsoft Zync, Dual Air Conditioning, Power Seats, and Automatic Transmission. Winner has the option to take the Ford Focus or a $15,000.00 credit on purchase of any new or used vehicle at Carriage Ford at the price advertised on the internet. This option is good for three working days after the winner is determined. Only 333 tickets will be sold. We have sold well over half our tickets and now need to make our final push to sell the rest!!! We ask you to pick up your ticket before or after Mass or call the Parish Office at 812-364-6646. If there are any corrections to be made please contact Catherine Ernst 812-972-0447 or the Parish Office. Thanks!
Yard Signs
If you still have your Picnic Yard Sign from last year please return it to the Church so we can change the date and license number or please change the date to Sept 27 and License#138038 before putting it in your yard. Thanks for helping us to advertise our picnic.
Cedar Chest
The Cedar Chest that will be raffled on Picnic Day is now in the narthex of the Church. Now we need to fill it up with miscellaneous items. Anything for the house: linens, glassware, games, pot holders, etc. Thanks for your support!

We could use some help in bagging the frozen dumplings this Sunday following the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Parish Center kitchen. Please join us and lend a hand!
Cake Boxes
Cake Boxes are available in the narthex of the church. We ask that each family to donate two cakes for the cake wheel booth and four homemade pies for the dinner. Cakes and pies can be dropped off on Saturday, Sept 26th or the morning of Sept 27th. Thank you!
The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be here at St. Michael’s on Monday, October 5th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Did you know that to meet the needs of patients the Red Cross must collect 15,000 units of blood each day? 80% of donations are collected at blood drives such as ours. Please consider this most precious gift. As in the past chicken ‘n dumplings will be served to the donors along with some down home St. Michael’s hospitality. We could use your help, all would be greatly appreciated. Give Geralyn a call at 812-364-6678. God Bless you one and all.

Do You Believe? – We will show the movie “Do You Believe” following the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, September 19th. All are invited to join us for this compelling movie. Just before the movie we will have a light supper. A dozen different souls—all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is power in the Cross of Christ … even if they don’t believe it. Yet. When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only God could orchestrate. More than a movie, it’s a question we all must answer in our lifetimes: DO YOU BELIEVE? This film is rated PG-13 for some intense scenes and A-II (Adults and Adolescents) by the Catholic News Service.
Confirmation Meeting for Parents and Youth – We invite all youth in grades 9-12 who have not yet celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation to be prepared for the Sacrament in the spring of 2016. We will have an informational meeting on Sunday, September 20th following the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the parish center. We invite parents and youth to this meeting as we discuss the sacramental prep classes, activities, service opportunities, and the celebration of the sacrament. Preparation classes will begin on October 4th. Please call the Faith Formation office if you have further questions.
Senior Gathering – We will not have a Senior Gathering in September due to the busyness around our Parish Picnic. Our next gathering will be on October 28th. We will gather at noon for Mass and then all are invited to bring something to share for lunch. In October, Rite Aid will be on hand to give out flu shots if you are interested.
Barnabas Project – In an effort to stay in touch with our college students who go away to college we will be sending them care packages in September (Back to School), December (Advent), February (Lent), and April (End of Year). If you would like to donate items to go into the boxes or help us put them together please contact the Faith Formation Office. As you know St. Barnabas was known to be an encourager – let’s be encouragers to our students while they are away!
Papal Visit to the United States – As you know Pope Francis will be visiting the United States to attend the World Meeting of Families on September 22nd – 27th. Please keep our Holy Father in your prayers for his safe travel and for a conversion of hearts. “God of Mercy and compassion, we come to you in our need and lift up to you our nation as we prepare for the apostolic visit of Pope Francis. We pray that we may be faithful to the Pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth. That we may be eager to meet and listen to Pope Francis. That we may be compassionate with the poor and needy. That we may be merciful with the weak and the lost. That we may humbly confess our sins and return to God. And that we may frequently and devoutly receive Holy Communion. God our Father, we are all your children. Make of us a nation of mercy and compassion eager to meet Pope Francis. Make us a nation of holiness and heroism through Christ our Lord Amen.”
Sacramental Prep Meeting for Parents – We will have a Sacramental Prep meeting for parents who have a child who will celebrate the sacraments of first reconciliation and first Eucharist on Sunday, October 4th at 9:45 a.m. in the lower level of the church. We ask that at least one parent in each family attend this important meeting.
