Our aim is to engage more disabled people, with a focus on developing wheelchair/physical, visually impaired, learning disability/difficulties and deaf/hard of hearing tennis, to play, volunteer and coach in the game of Tennis. Middlesex Tennis will engage with a wide range of partners to ensure disabled people can play in a variety of settings either inclusively or in an impairment specific environment.
In order to do this, we want to appoint an individual with a passion for disability tennis to work the equivalent of 1 day per week on a flexible basis as the Middlesex Disabilities Tennis Co-ordinator.
Venue Overview / Middlesex Tennis is the Association that is responsible for promoting, improving and developing the game of tennis within the County. The County Association affiliates to the LTA and upholds the rules and regulations of the LTA.

The role of this person will be:
  • To work with Middlesex Tennis, The Tennis Foundation, The LTA, key clubs and other 3rd parties to create a strategy, plan and monitoring system for disability tennis in Middlesex.
  • To further develop and co-ordinate the Middlesex Disability Tennis Network in the delivery of the disability tennis plan for Middlesex.
  • To work with coaches and clubs to identify and develop a competent workforce qualified to enable the delivery of inclusive & impairment specific tennis sessions across club and community settings.
  • To identify and access funding and sponsorship for disability tennis.
  • To promote and communicate all relevant activity and opportunities within the county.
  • To report to Middlesex Tennis and the Tennis Foundation on activity, results, expenditure and budget requirements.
Remuneration
A retainer of £6,000 per year we be paid on the basis of a self-employed position. The initial period of work will be for 12 months, which may be extended with the agreement of both parties. Travel expenses will be paid by Middlesex Tennis at a rate of 30p per mile.
Person Specification
Demonstrable passion for and a knowledge of disability sport
Have a basic understanding and knowledge of Community and Volunteer run clubs
With assistance, be able to work at a strategic level
Be able to work independently at an operational level
Be conscientious and methodical with sound administrative skills
Hold an Enhanced DBS check
Have the ability to network effectively with other tennis people, disability organisations, funding partners, etc.
Willing and able to generate own ideas and work as part of a team
Have good communication skills at all levels
A Full Driving License is desirable but not essential
