Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! The Viking Athletic Department welcomes you back to Geneva High School for another great year of Viking Athletics! We have a long standing tradition of athletic excellence and we hope you will choose to be a part of the athletic program at Geneva High School.

ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR ALL ATHLETES (On-line registration instructions included)

The GHS Athletic Department requires on-line registration for all student athletes. Athlete registration for participation in a sport at GHS will be available on-line at geneva.8to18.com. All students interested in trying out for any sport must complete the online permission form and have a current physical on file with the athletic office.

To ensure your student is eligible to try-out or practice on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, you must have:

  1. Freshman or IHSA sports physical form turned into the Athletics Office before August 10, 2015. NO EXCEPTIONS
  2. On-line registration completed by August 1, 2015. NO EXCEPTIONS

Those needing assistance with on-line registration, computers are available in the

Athletic Office during summer office hours; Monday – Thursday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Coaches will have a list of “cleared” athletes eligible to participate on the first day of try-outs/practice. For updated athletic information, please visit our website at athletics2000.com/Geneva/

Participation Fee: The $140.00 per sport participation fee is due once squads/teams have been selected. As with other fees, the athletic fee may be paid on-line by visiting Parents with financial need may apply for a fee waiver or set up a payment plan with the athletic office.

Important Athletic Meeting for Freshman Parents: All parents of incoming freshman students participating in sports (fall, winter and/or spring season) should attend an informational meeting on Thursday, August 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the GHS auditorium. The purpose of this meeting is to provide pertinent information, meet the athletic director, head coaches, and to promote general communication. This meeting will be followed by the general orientation meeting for all incoming freshman parents at 7:30 pm.

Fall Sports Tryout Schedule

All Fall Sports Begin Wednesday, August 12, 2015

All AthletesOn-line registration is required before the first day of tryouts/practice for all sports at geneva.8to18.com A current physical and on-line athletic registration is mandatory. Athletes will NOT be allowed to participate without this information on file. Athletes need to be aware that practice times may vary after the first day of practice until the first day of school. Practice schedules will be distributedon the first day of practice/tryouts by your coach.

**When teams are established a $140.00 participation fee will be due for each athlete**

BOYS GOLFThe first day of try-outs is Wednesday, August 12 All golfers should be prepared to tee off for 18 holes of golf at 7:00AM at Mill Creek Golf Club. The roster will be trimmed every day with the final team members announced on Friday afternoon. Upon making the team, an additional golf coursefee of $190.00 will be due before the first meet along with the $140.00 participation fee. This additional fee helps offset some of the costs associated with playing golf at Mill Creek. In the event of bad weather on August 13th, we will still meet at 7:00 AM at Mill Creek.

FOOTBALL The first practice is Monday, August 10. Sophomores and Varsity squads will meet at 8:00AM and gather by the Center Street locker room doors. Freshmen will meet at 3:00 PM at the same location. Practice schedules will be distributed at this time.

GIRLS GOLF The first day of try-outs is Wednesday, August 12. All golfers should be prepared to tee off for 18 holes of golf at 8:00AM at Mill Creek Golf Club.Please arrive no later than 7:45 AM. Upon making the team, an additionalgolf coursefee of $155.00 will be due before the first meet along with the $140.00 participation fee. In the event of bad weather on August 13, we will still meet at 7:45AM at Mill Creek.

GIRLS TENNIS The first practice is Wednesday, August 12 Due to limited court space, all returning JV players, freshman and new players should meet at the GHS tennis courts on Center Street ready to practice from 3:00PM –5:00PM. All returning varsity players should report from 4:00PM – 6:00PM.

BOYS SOCCERThe first day of tryouts is Wednesday, August 12. Varsity level is scheduledAugust 12 & 13from 7:00AM –12:30PM on Burgess Field. Varsity will then practice at the same time on August 14th. Freshmen, Sophomoreand JVlevel tryouts are scheduled August12, 13 & 14 from 3:00 – 5:30PM on Center Street Field. All levels will practice from 9:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday, August 15th. Varsity will establish their team by the end of practice onThursday and the other teams will be established by the end of practice on Friday. Varsity players should bringa small lunch. All players should bring their own water bottle.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALLThe first day of try-outs is Wednesday, August 12 in the GHS contest gymnasium. All levels will practice from 8:00AM – 11:00AM. Teams will be established on Friday.

CROSS COUNTRY The first practice is Wednesday, August 12. All levels will meet outside the Contest Gymnasium entrance on McKinley Street from 7:00AM – 9:30AM.

CHEER TEAM Squads and practice schedules have already been established for the 2015 - 2016 school year.

DANCE TEAM The JV and Varsity squads have been established for the 2015 - 2016 school year.

ATHLETIC INFORMATION:Get up to date schedules, forms and athletic information by logging onto Physicals must be on file prior to August 11, 2015. Registration must be completed by August 1, 2015.

GENEVA ATHLETIC REGISTRATION

Students interested in trying out or participating in any sport at Geneva High School MUST have the following items completed and turned in to the Athletic Office:

  1. Complete athletic registration online (this is not the site where you pay)
  2. Turn in a current athletic physical or a copy of your freshman physical to the Athletic Office. All physicals are good for 395 days (which is equivalent to 12 months + 30 days) from the date it was taken.
  3. $140 athletic participation fee is due one the teams have been selected.
