Station 1 Directions

1.  Complete the map by labeling the different Louisiana Native American tribes and coloring each region a different color. Use the map on page 87 in the textbook.

2.  Complete the Tribes information that accompanies the map.

3.  Imagine you are a European explorer and encounter a Louisiana Indian Tribe. You are more than likely the first European to encounter a North American Indian Tribe in history!!! You want to let people back in Europe know what you have discovered…You may do EITHER (NOT BOTH).

a.  Create a sketch about what you encountered in the Indian Village. The sketch must include:

i.  A title (this is the name of the tribe)

ii. 3 drawings that will explain how they live

iii.  Include what part of the state the tribe is located in

iv.  DOES NOT HAVE TO BE COLORED!

b.  Write a journal about what you encountered. The journal must include:

i.  The date (the year is 1500)

ii. The name of the tribe

iii.  3 facts about how that tribe lives their life

iv.  Include what part of the state the tribe is located in

Station 2 Directions

1.  Complete each section about historic Indian culture by using the textbook and discussing the questions that require further thought.

2.  Select one area of historic Indian culture that really interests you. Pretend that you can time travel and that you can interview a Louisiana Native American from the 1500s.

a.  Make a list of 5 interview questions that you will ask related to your topic.

i.  They must be open ended questions. This means NO yes or no questions.

1.  GOOD Example: What was it like living in a house made of mud, moss, and deer hair?

2.  BAD Example: Did you like your house?

ii. The questions must show that you are looking for further information about your selected topic.
