Role Title / Young Leaders Programme Intern
Role Description / The Young Leaders Intern will support the Young Leaders Coordinator with the delivery, monitoring, administration and overall expansion of their in house Youth Leadership Programme.
The Young Leaders Programme supports young wheelchair users to increase their skills, work on their personal development and represent the charity in various ways.
The role will be varied and will include mentoring young people as well as behind the scenes work to ensure this national programme runs effectively and efficiently.
Main Tasks / -  Telephone and/or face to face Mentoring support to Young Leaders to complete a series of modules.
General communication with Young Leaders; emailing/ phoning Young Leaders directly about training events, media and public speaking opportunities as well as leadership opportunities outside of Whizz-Kidz
Attending Whizz-Kidz events; supporting Young Leaders to take on a Leadership role within our events, to run games and activities. This may include occasional Saturdays.
Sending Certificates and awards to Young Leaders so Young Leaders are awarded for their endeavours.
Support with writing of Testimonials for our young Leaders who have completed the programme in full.
Using a central and local database to ensure progress is tracked accurately and all info is stored soundly.
Skills and Experience needed / The successful intern will need to go through a DBS check before they can start this position. And will require the following skills and qualities
·  Empathy with young people and disabled people
·  Enthusiasm and Passion for supporting Young People to develop
·  Self-motivated, able to work without too much direction
·  Confident to liaise with Young People on the phone
·  Friendly manner
·  IT literate. Especially use of Microsoft Excel, and an ability to work with spreadsheets and a lot of data.
