A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Dan Day Slone.

WHEREAS, Dan Day Slone was a native son of the Commonwealth, born in Wayland, Kentucky, on June 30, 1937, the son of the late Miles and Knova Adkins Slone; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Slone proudly served his nation in the Army during the Korean War. He was a retired insurance salesman and salesman for Flowers Bakery, and a devout member of Auxier Freewill Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Slone departed this earthly life on January 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arminda "Dolly" Slone; a son, Danny Day Slone; a brother, Van Ray Slone; and a sister, Shelby Jean Rowe. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Nelson Slone; a daughter, Deanna Slone Collins and her husband, Bucky; two stepchildren, Tony Dean Whitaker and his wife, Shae, and Betty Lynette Risner and her husband, Bill; a brother, Crandell Lee Slone; two sisters, Loretta McKinney and Lula Mae Newsome; two grandchildren, Krystal and D.J.; eight step-grandchildren, Amber, Hope, Holly, Nathan, Logan, Stella, Savannah, and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Haley; and three step-great-grandchildren, Alissa, Celina, and Wesley;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Dan Day Slone.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Dan Day Slone.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Geneva Nelson Slone, 8601 State Road Fork, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
