Purpose of the Role / To help the recruitment and induction of volunteers whilst supporting their day –to-day development through a variety of channels, including informal conversations and review meetings. To update and maintain procedures and documentation and ensure clear communication with all volunteers during their time at the Pen Museum.
Hours and Commitment / Once a week or more, for a minimum of 3 months
10.45 am to 4.15 pm, 12.45 pm to 4.15pmon Sundays (am/pm shifts available)
Volunteers arrive prior to opening and leave once all of the closing down procedures have been completed.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities /
- Regularly review and update volunteer role profiles according to the needs of the Museum
- To place existing volunteers in appropriate roles
- Identify where there are gaps in provision
- Be innovative in where to recruit volunteers
- Work with the Secretary to identify opportunities for recruitment and scheduling recruitment drives
- Maintain volunteer reference materials and provide regular updates to volunteers
- Maintain volunteer records
- Welcome new volunteers
- Be the first point of contact for all recruited volunteers
- Deliver Induction programme to new volunteers
- Deliver legislative and policy induction to new volunteers
- Carry out end of settling in period interviews and advise volunteers of permanent role or explain reasons for termination
- Schedule and carry out or delegate 6 monthly volunteer reviews
- Organise annual refresher training for existing volunteers
- Identify training to support new and existing volunteers
- Work with museum industry bodies and others to provide training and where appropriate access to funding
- Maintain volunteers enthusiasm and identify new opportunities
- Using Management Group meeting notes produce a monthly volunteer report to contain news and updates
- Provide ongoing support and recognition for all volunteers
- Attend training as necessary
