WVAGT Conference Lodging Information

Lodging for this year’s conference will be at Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center, in Davis, WV 26260. A block of rooms is being held at a special rate for the conference. You must call Canaan Valley Resort at 304-866-4121 to reserve your room. Mention that you are attending the gifted conference to get the best rate. Reservations must be made by October 9 to get the special rate. The West Virginia Department of Education will be reimbursing teachers of the gifted for both lodging and mileage. Reimbursement forms will be available Saturday morning at the conference. Rooms are available for Thursday and Friday nights, October 16th and 17th.

Canaan Valley Resort has free wireless internet available in the Conference Center. Please bring your laptop as it may be beneficial to have during workshops. The guest rooms also have free internet, however, you will need to bring an Ethernet cord to connect. Other amenities include cable TV, telephone, am/fm clock radio, complimentary coffee and tea, bath accessories, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board.

The guest rooms are located right next to the Conference Center, so it is a very easy walk.

We will have an extended break time during lunch on Friday so that you can explore some of the wild and wonderful mountain beauty! Some of the features include: A Geoffrey Cornish 18-hole championship golf course, scenic chair lift rides, hiking/mountain biking trails, geocaching, climbing wall, eurobungy, fitness center, saunas, paintball, and an indoor swimming pool. We will also enjoy a bonfire on Friday night, so come prepared for some good outdoor country fun!

We will have tasty snacks throughout the conference, as well as a delicious lunch and dinner on Friday, however, if you are hungry beyond that, you are on your own. You can feel free to bring your own breakfast foods and stop for lunch on your way home on Saturday. You can also visit the Hickory Dining Room at Canaan or various other restaurants in the area.
