MID SEASON HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIP

EVENT

‘TOLANI TROPHY’ Mid-season Seabird, Lightning & J/24 Championship will be conducted in Seabird, Lightning and J/24 Class of Boats under the burgees of the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, the Bombay Sailing Association and the Colaba Sailing Club in MumbaiHarbour on Sat.14th & Sun 15th. Feb, 2009. The Event is open to members of YAI affiliated and International Recognized Sailing Clubs and to ‘Corinthian Crew’ only.

RULES

  1. The event will be covered by the current International Yacht Racing Rules, the rules of the Seabird Class Association, the Int. Lightning Class Association, the J/24 Class rules and the Sailing Instructions which will be issued in due course.
CLASS
  1. The races will be held in the Mumbai Harbour Seabird Class and Lightning Class of Boats with crew 1 + 2 persons. The J/24 complement will be as per the Class rules. The minimum entries for event to be held will be 4 in the Lightning and 3 in the J/24.
ENTRY
  1. Attached entry form with entry fee duly completed is to reach the Hon.Sailing Secretary, RBYC by Mon 9th Feb 2009, 6.30 p.m.
FEES
  1. Entry fee Rs.100/- per boat.

6.Sat. 14th. Race # 1 : Lightning-1400 hrs/Seabirds-1405hrs/ J/24-1410 hrs

Race # 2 : On completion of Race # 1

Race # 3 : On completion of race # 2

Sun 15th. Race # 4 : Lightning- 1400 hrs / Seabird-1405 hrs/J/24-1410 hrs

Race # 5 : On completion of Race # 4

Booking of Club Boats

  1. The Club Boats will be available for members on the following basis:

a)The enclosed entry form must reach Hon. Sailing Secretary, RBYC, latest by

Mon 9th Feb. by 6.30 p.m.

b)The draw for the allottees will take place on Mon 9th Feb.2009 at the RBYC Sailing Room at 7.00 p.m. All the intending members are requested to remain present for the draw.

c)The charter fee as per the current rates will be debited to the member’s bills.

d)The helmsman will be responsible for the boat and any damage to the boat during the race will be made good by the helmsman.

e)The helmsman may not carry out any alterations or modifications to the boat without prior permission from Captain of Boats, Royal Bombay Yacht Club/Captain of Boats, Bombay Sailing Association/Captain of Boats, Colaba Sailing Club (as the case may be)

RESULTS

  1. The results will be declared on the basis of Handicaps. System of handicapping will be announced with the sailing instructions.

PRIZES

  1. The ‘ Tolani Trophy’ will be awarded to the winning crew in the Seabird Class. Suitable Prizes will be awarded to helm & crew securing 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall positions in the Seabird.

J-24 and Lightning classes subject to a minimum of 8 entries and Runners up ie: 2nd prize subject to a minimum of 5 entries.
