Jesse Frank Atkins, Jr., age 84, of Monticello, died Monday, November 14, 2011, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Frank Atkins was born in Rome, Georgia and moved to Monticello as a youth. His parents were the late Jesse Frank Atkins, Sr. and Vera Sanders Atkins. He served

in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a dairy, poultry, and beef farmer and served on several farm and beef organization boards. He was a Jasper County Commissioner for 16 years.

His wife, Thelma Mae Hawkins Atkins; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse Frank, III and Diane Atkins; and brother and sisters, Mozelle Atkins, Queen Kemp, Clyde Atkins, Ramey Malone, Opal Harper, and Helen Cook, all preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Charlotte Atkins of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Phyllis and Spike Jones of Kennesaw, and Jimmy Atkins of Boley, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sandra Foster, Melissa Carr, Victoria Fairley, Clair Cavender, Jessica Garrish, Allison Atkins, Joy Atkins, Chris Atkins, and Shawna Sullivan; great grandchildren, Jacob Cavender, Emily Rose Cavender, Ella Atkins, Cole Atkins, Isabella Garrish, Hudson Garrish, Kaylee Atkins, and Careena Atkins; and brothers and sister, James Atkins of Monticello, Sanders Atkins of Silver Creek, and Hilda Moore of Rome.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Dr. John Brown will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Jordan Funeral Home.
