Feedback Collection Procedure:
Walk The Patch
This procedure explains how we listen to new families on the postnatal wards at RBH.
MVP Walk The Patch Co-ordinator: Lisa Ramsey
Where: We walk the patch on Marsh and Iffley wards.
When: No more than one week before the formal meeting.
Before you walk the patch:
Lisa will invite volunteer User Reps to visit the wards. Initially volunteers will visit the wards with a more experienced member of the User Rep team.
The User Rep emails the ward manager to ask permission to visit, giving the time and date of the visit. This is usually granted.
The User Rep prints off ten copies of the Walk The Patch form, from:
Dropbox\Maternity Voices Partnership\Feedback Forms & Report Templates\Walk The Patch.docx
(Or request the form from Lisa if you don't have access to the dropbox)
The User Rep will also need some MVP postcards to hand out to the people spoken to.
On the day:
Please allow one hour for your visit.
Enter the ward and report to reception, explaining who you are and handing over a postcard. Ask if there is anyone they would prefer you not to disturb.
You may visit any other cubicle or private room. Knock or announce your presence and request to speak with the parent(s) present.
Explain that we are an independent group of service users, collecting information in order to feed back themes to the maternity department. We work to help improve the experience of new families using the service.
Gather the information on the form and anything else the parent wishes to tell you about. Thank them and leave a postcard.
Afterwards:
Please be prepared to attend the formal meeting to feed back the main points raised.
If you are unable to attend, please compile a short report and try to get the forms to Lisa before the meeting.
