CHILD PROTECTION POLICIES
Pigcawayan Central Elementary School is one of the central schools in Cotabato Division which is located in Poblacion 1, Pigcawayan, Cotabato which caters two thousand forty five (2,045) pupils for the school year 2015-2016.
With this big number of enrolees we can’t say that bullying could be avoided. However, with the help of organized committee against any violent act, this could be prohibited if only administrator, teachers, parents and even the community will coordinate properly and work hand in hand to avoid this to happen.
Pigcawayan Central Elementary School answers proper assistance for the following acts;
- child abuse;
- discrimination against children;
- child exploitation
- violence against children in school;
- corporal punishment;
- bullying or peer abuse
The following are the schools duties and responsibilities to provide special protection and interventions to school children to avoid any violent acts:
- Ensure that children are never placed at risk while they are in school;
- Ensure that any form of abuse will be given immediate action and resolution by the committee members
- Create a child-friendly environment;
- Provide a safe and secure environment for all children
- Conduct symposium or information drive about bullying
SCHOOL POLICIES
- There should be close monitoring of teachers to a child who is victim of bullying
- Teachers should model good behaviour; in the manner of speaking, use of words, gestures, etc.
- Bullying incidents must be reported to any of the member of the committee by observing proper protocol
- Investigation will be conducted only by authorized personnel within 24 hours upon receipt of complaint.
- Counselling should be conducted both bully and victim
- Impose disciplinary actions to the offender according to the gravity of offense committed
First Offense – counselling by the class adviser
Second Offense – call parents’ attention at the school guidance
counsellor/principal’s office
Third Offense – suspension from the class a maximum of three (3) days.
