State of the School Address

Fall 2012

To the Hapeville Charter Community:

Hapeville Charter Career Academy is well on its way to becoming one of the greatest schools in the metro area. We are encouraging all parents and students to take advantage of our extended day programs. Our teachers are dedicated and determined to help our students to be the best that they can be in the areas or math, science, literature and social studies. Parents, please make sure that you take full advantage of our Saturday school.

Our students have been working hard on achieving academic excellence. We have had several benchmark tests this year to monitor the progress of our students’ academic achievement. Our students are doing well and the teachers are working to ensure that each child does the best that he/she can do on the GHSGT and the E.O.C.T.

Parents, we are also asking for your support in keeping our students safe and sound. Please make sure that you check on your student on a regular basis. Please make sure that nothing has changed in his/her daily routine.

The follow-up for required actions which were stated in the Fall 2011 AdvancED review will be reviewed in Fall 2013. We, as a school, will go through this process every five years. The next AdvancED renewal will be Fall 2016.

Hapeville Charter Career Academy was invited to the Georgia Dome to meet with the Falcons Football team to participate in Visa Financial Football. During the visit, five iPads were donated to the school by Visa.

HCCA has been approved by Title I to become Title I School-Wide. We had been a Targeted Assisted school which served only 88 students school-wide.

Our FBLA team went to Perry, Georgia to participate in the FBLA State Fair. Our students represented us very well and look forward to participating next year.

Our dual enrollment programs are off to a good start. Our Automotive and Engineering Departments will be participating in the State’s Skill USA Challenge. These programs will be headed by Mr. Lindsey and Coach Moore. If you have students in those areas, please feel free to call Mr. Lindsey or Coach Moore if you have any questions.

As always, we look forward to continuing our partnership with parents, community, faculty and school.
