State of the School Address
Fall 2012
To the Hapeville Charter Community:
Hapeville Charter Career Academy is well on its way to becoming one of the greatest schools in the metro area. We are encouraging all parents and students to take advantage of our extended day programs. Our teachers are dedicated and determined to help our students to be the best that they can be in the areas or math, science, literature and social studies. Parents, please make sure that you take full advantage of our Saturday school.
Our students have been working hard on achieving academic excellence. We have had several benchmark tests this year to monitor the progress of our students’ academic achievement. Our students are doing well and the teachers are working to ensure that each child does the best that he/she can do on the GHSGT and the E.O.C.T.

Parents, we are also asking for your support in keeping our students safe and sound. Please make sure that you check on your student on a regular basis. Please make sure that nothing has changed in his/her daily routine.
The follow-up for required actions which were stated in the Fall 2011 AdvancED review will be reviewed in Fall 2013. We, as a school, will go through this process every five years. The next AdvancED renewal will be Fall 2016.
Hapeville Charter Career Academy was invited to the Georgia Dome to meet with the Falcons Football team to participate in Visa Financial Football. During the visit, five iPads were donated to the school by Visa.
HCCA has been approved by Title I to become Title I School-Wide. We had been a Targeted Assisted school which served only 88 students school-wide.
Our FBLA team went to Perry, Georgia to participate in the FBLA State Fair. Our students represented us very well and look forward to participating next year.
Our dual enrollment programs are off to a good start. Our Automotive and Engineering Departments will be participating in the State’s Skill USA Challenge. These programs will be headed by Mr. Lindsey and Coach Moore. If you have students in those areas, please feel free to call Mr. Lindsey or Coach Moore if you have any questions.

During the 2011-2012 School Year, 120 students received CEFGA credit for enrollment in Introduction to Engineering Drawing. During the current school year, 154 students are enrolled in Introduction to Engineering Drawing.
(4) HCCA Football has moved from A to AA due to school enrollment numbers.
(5) HCCA received Title I Schoolwide designation beginning with the 2012-2013 School Year
From April 2012 to June 2012:
(1) Five HCCA students and one faculty member are participating in the Educational Tours 10 day trip entitled “History: Holocaust in Europe”
(2) Hapeville Charter Board approves feasibility study for Evening/Weekend Continuing Education Program
(3) SPSS software purchased for institutional research studies to improve student achievement from grades 6 through 12
(4) The CEO and President attended the State of the Charter School meeting on May 8, 2012 which was coordinated by the Georgia Charter Schools Association and the State DOE Charter Schools Division
(5) HCCA is one of the representatives of the Atlanta Technical College Biotechnical Advisory Committee
(6) Hapeville Charter faculty/staff are presenters at the May 22nd Hapeville Exchange Club meeting
(7) HCCA and HCMS staff attend the State DOE workshop on College Career and Work Ready Index on May 30, 2012
(8) HCCA meets with Fulton County School System and State DOE facilities directors to ensure compliance and transparency with the plans to build a four classroom annex on the HCCA property at 6045 Buffington Road
(9) Mr. Rainey, Principal of HCCA, and faculty/staff attend the National Charter Schools Conference in Minneapolis, MN the last week of June, 2012

*The first group of high school seniors attending HCCA. Graduation is set in May 24, 2013 at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia.
From January 2012 to March 2012:
(1) HCCA hosted Informational Meeting #1 for prospective parents and students interested in attending HCCA for the 2012-2013 School Year on January 21, 2012.
(2) HCCA hosted a National Ford HUB Meeting on February 16, 2012
(3) HCCA hosted Informational Meeting #2 for prospective parents and students interested in attending HCCA for the 2012-2013 School Year on February 25, 2012.
(4) Atlanta Technical College approved hosting the first HCCA senior graduation scheduled in May, 2013.
(5) Hapeville Charter Board approved 3 month study to determine the feasibility of rolling out an Evening/Weekend Program to maximize the usage of the HCCA facility. The “Go versus No Go” decision is targeted at the June 2012 Board meeting.
(6) Anthony Boston represented HCCA at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Kansas City.
