Open licence issued on an annual basis from June 1993.

DEFINITION

Erwinia amylovora protected zone: Austria, Ireland, Italy, Finland, France(Champagne-Ardennes, Alsace except Bas Rhin, Lorraine, Franche-Comté, Rhône-Alpes except Rhône, Bourgogne, Auvergne except Puy de Dome, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corse, Languedoc-Roussillon), Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom (N. Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands)

In general the prohibitions, restrictions or other special requirements applicable to importations into Guernsey of plants and plant products are identical with those laid down for United Kingdom with one exception (see Heading 7) as defined in the Directive 77/93 EEC. These prohibitions and restrictions do not apply to consignments imported into Guernsey from the other British Islands or Ireland, other than those detailed in headings 6, 7 and 9.

CERTIFICATES

As for United Kingdom except that small quantities of host plants of Erwinia amylovora in passengers' baggage are not exempted from sertificate requirement.

Complex requirement

Buffer zone requirements for Erwinia amylovora

The plants were produced (or, if moved into buffer zone, maintained) for a period of at least one year on a field situated in a designated buffer zone of at least 50km² subject to specific measures for controlling the spread of Erwinia amylovora. The field was officially approved for such cultivation prior to the beginning of the last complete cycle of vegetation.

The field and buffer zone was found free from Erwinia amylovora during the last growing season by: inspections carried out at least twice in the field and in 250 m radius around it (in summer and in autumn), random checks at least once during summer/autumn within a 1 km radius of the field, laboratory checks carried out on any plants in the field or buffer zone suspected of harbouring Erwinia amylovora.

Removal of any plants which showed symptoms of Erwinia amylovora, in the field of production or buffer zone, was officially supervised.
