Selection procedures for qualified students of OPENNET – II
for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme
January, 2013 session
1.Category-wise Availability of Seats
A total of 510 seats in 18 Nursing Colleges (called Programme Study Centres) are available for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme of IGNOU for January 2013 session. As per reservation Policy of IGNOU, the category-wise distribution of seats are as follows:
SC(15%) / ST 7.5% / OBC (27%) / PH (3%) / WW (5%) / GEN. / KM / Total76 / 38 / 138 / 15 / 26 / 216 / 1 / 510
SC = Scheduled Caste, ST = Scheduled Tribe, OBC = Other Backward Castes, PH = Physically Handicapped,
WW = War Widow, GEN= General Category, KM = Kashmiri Migrants
2. Resolving the Tie Cases
The mark and rank of candidates are already put to website. In case of tie in the mark/rank, the candidate(s) would be given preference on the basis of the following in chronological order:
1) Length of relevant experience as prescribed by the university
2) Over all percentage of marks secured in GNM exam
If the tie still does not get resolved, “Date of Birth” will be considered (Candidates born earlier will have higher rank than those born later) if there will be a tie after applying all the above criteria, then rank will be decided through a draw of lot.
3. Counselling Process
· Counselling will be done as per the “national merit list” drawn, at IGNOU Head quarters, New Delhi
· Counselling will be done by the Counselling Committee comprising of representatives from SOHS and concerned Divisions including Regional Centres.
· Applicants will be asked to give their options(s) for all the Programme Study Centre as listed (Total 18 No.) & also strictly in order of preference. This option will be treated as final for the purpose of counseling & allocation of Centre.
· Number of applicants called for counseling will not exceed the total number of seats available.
· However, in case any seat(s) remain vacant after 1st counseling, additional counseling session(s) will be conducted as may be required.
