Emergency Personnel:
Coaching staff and member of the Athletic Training staff are on-site for all practices and competitions. A team physician is on-call for competitions.
Emergency Communication:
Fixed telephone lines are located in the first base dugout (Home dugout), Bud Klein Varsity Clubhouse, coaching offices, press box, and the ticket office. Cellular telephones may or may not work in the facility.
Emergency Equipment:
AED, vacuum splints, crutches, and first aid supplies are available during practices and competitions.
In the event of an emergency:
1. Provide immediate care of the injured student-athlete or staff member
2. Activate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) using
a. Fixed Telephone Line: Dial 9-911
b. Cellular Telephone: Dial 911
Instruct EMS personnel to “Report to the Sunken Diamond using the ______entrance. We have an injured student-athlete/staff member in need of emergency medical treatment. We are located ____. A member of the Sports Medicine Team to meet you outside of the ticket office.”
3. Notify Stanford Sports Medicine Staff at Arrillaga Family Sports Center Athletic Training Room by calling (650) 723-1214.
4. Retrieve necessary emergency equipment.
5. Direct EMS to the scene
a. Open appropriate gates/doors
b. Designate individual to ‘flag down’ EMS and direct them to the scene
c. Control the scene—Limit the scene to first aid providers. Remove bystanders.
Venue Directions:
From Galvez St., turn onto Nelson Road and proceed to the Varsity Lot #1. Stay to the right and Sunken Diamond will be straight ahead. This will lead to access to the grandstand and the Bud Klein Clubhouse.
From El Camino Real, turn onto Churchill Mall and proceed to the end of the mall. Sunken Diamond will be on your left. The field is accessible through the double gate located in center field, in the Southwest corner of Sunken Diamond.
Note to EMS: A rig will NOT fit through the field gates
