City Council Meeting opened by Mayor Nissen at 7:00p.m.

Accounts payable –Motion to approve accounts payable, as presented in the amount of $ 85,278.12made byHage/Pavelko, all yes,motion carried.

Minutes Approval – Motion to approve the minutes of the meeting made by Bakalyar/Monson, all yes, motion carried.

AGENDA ITEMS:

  1. Swear in Officer Jordan Bretzman – Welcome to the Lakefield Police Department to Jordan.
  2. Newly Elected Officials Training – Council members Andrea Monson and Brent Pavelko attend training provided by the League of Minnesota Cities. They shared information the learned. Information included using social media, Facebook etc. and serving the community to the best of their abilities. Also discussed were possible cost savings to utilizing I Pad technology for council members. They were very pleased with the training provided.

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS

  1. Waste Water Treatment Plant – Superintendent Koep shared information with the council on the possibility of Lakefield Public Utilities taking over the operation of the waste water treatment plant. PeopleService has operated the plant for Lakefield since 1991. A motion was made to have Superintendent Koep collect more information about the feasibility of Utilities taking over the operation of the waste water plant made by Bakalyar/Hage. All yes, motion carried. A workshop is expected to be held in the future to discuss this after more information is collected. The workshop would be a joint workshop with council and public utilities commission. If a decision to take back the operation of the plant is made, a 90 notice is needed for PeopleService.
  2. Sweeper Cylinders – the cost for building new the sweeper cylinders will be approximately $2300. The old cylinders cannot be rebuilt.
  3. Main Street Lights - the remaining street lights will be installed soon.
