Applications are invited from qualified primary teachers and executive teaching staff wishing to be considered to undertake the temporary role of Assistant Principal at Warragamba Public School. This is a temporary position Assistant Principal Level, commencing Term 1, 2017 with the possibility of extension.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Warragamba Public School team to lead and promote quality teaching and learning experiences to the students of Warragamba Public School.
In 2017, Warragamba Public School will have an approximate enrolment of 356 students with 14 mainstream classes including 27 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. Our school community is involved at all levels and we have a close bond with the community. We have a hard working and dedicated P&C committee who work tirelessly to fundraise for the school and to ensure that our students are well supported. Our staff are focussed on continuous improvement both as professionals themselves, as well as ensuring the improvement of student outcomes across K-6. They dedicate themselves to supporting and encouraging all students and effectively meeting all individual needs. Our students are well mannered and respectful towards both their peers and their teachers and they immerse themselves in school activities/events across a number of areas. They have a pleasing work ethic and leadership among our students is highly valued and respected. Warragamba Public School is a wonderful place to learn and grow as an individual. It is supportive, encouraging and responsive to all members of the school community.
Position Criteria:
· Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
· Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
· Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
· Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
· Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
· Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.
