JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Fundraiser

Responsible to:Fundraising Director

Accountable to:Fundraising Manager

Pay Point: 8-12 Dependent upon experience, skills and qualifications

Job Summary

To develop links with the local community with a view to raising the profile of St. Richard’s Hospice and increasing the hospice’s income from community support.

The fundraising department work as a team, liaising and assisting each other wherever necessary.

To work with the Fundraising Team to develop and implement a programme of fundraising activities to attract and motivate individuals, community groups and companies to support the hospice. To lead on identified key events, income streams and campaigns to generate and maximize income for the hospice, ensuring the fundraising offering stays current and innovative. To develop links with the local community, to raise the profile of St Richard’s Hospice, attract new volunteers and identify and implement fundraising opportunities.

To carry out other activities identified by the Fundraising Manager or Fundraising Director to achieve the overall objectives of the department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.0 Fundraising Events, Campaigns and Initiatives

1.1To lead on key events, campaigns or non-event income streams as agreed with line management and to contribute and deliver against annual budgets and plans, reporting back on budgets on a monthly basis to line management. These responsibilities can vary in line with the fundraising team strategy, the annual events calendar and latest trends.

1.2To support those in the community wishing to host their own event or initiative to ensure they are nurtured and encouraged to maximize on income generation for the hospice and opportunities for further support are identified. To research, implement or promote campaigns to encourage those in the community to host their own event. To review promotional and fundraising materials to attract and support donors.

1.3To recruit and grow the youth market including schools, youth groups, colleges and universities to support the hospice, including researching and implementing new campaigns or events to attract support of the hospice and to manage these relationships.

1.4To recruit and support new groups and organizations such as W.I.s, Rotaries, Sporting Club charity of the years and ensure appropriate and informative talks and tours are delivered to these groups, to develop long-term supporters.

1.5To provide encouragement and fundraising support to all organisations, volunteers and supporters who hold events on our behalf or choose to support the hospice. This includes giving presentations, talks and hospice tours and supporting our Volunteer Groups hosting events in the community.

1.6To assist in relationship management and cultivation through personal relationship or by providing regular and timely information to line management and others.

1.7To ensure that local fundraising, community events, activities and collections are run effectively, well supported and operate within legal guidelines and Fundraising Regulator’s Codes of Practice.

1.8To promote and look for new opportunities for placement of collections tins and merchandise such as pin badges and wristbands. Working to ensure volunteers involved in these activities are nurtured, thanked and managed appropriately and likewise supporters are thanked accordingly.

1.9To attend and contribute to regular meetings of the FR department and attend team and fundraisers away days.

1.10To be part of the Fundraising and Communications team, working with and supporting other team members when required to achieve overall fundraising team objectives e.g. with major events, hospice receptions and during seasonal busy times.

1.11To maintain adequate records for all events and fundraising, liaising with the fundraising administration team to utilise and maximise the use of the office database (ThankQ)

2.0Communications

2.1Involvement with the FR Team in producing and distributing regular communications including press releases, social media, mailings and newsletters ensuring maximum media coverage of all FR events. To include taking part in interviews and photo calls where necessary.

2.2 To take responsibility for maintaining the hospice profile, promoting events, campaigns and challenges and seeking new opportunities in the Worcestershire area and any specific geographical area, as identified by your line manager.

2.3To have detailed knowledge of the work of St Richard’s Hospice care.

2.4To assist with the hospice open evenings, tours and reception events.

3.0Educational and Developmental

3.1To maintain own levels of knowledge and practice complying with current research and developments by personal reading and on-going research. This includes keeping up-to-date with the Fundraising Regulator’s Codes of Practice and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) legislation

3.2 To monitor own role and function within the Hospice.

3.3 To feedback progress and development to Line Manager during

annual IPR appraisals and review meetings

3.4 To attend appropriate networking meetings such as IOF meetings or

annual conferences

4.0Office

4.1 To work as part of the Fundraising and Communication Team, cooperating with and assisting each other where necessary.

4.2 To assist with administration at busy times, or to cover annual leave, to ensure the fundraising office standards are met.

4.3 To use the ThankQ system appropriately to market events, establish donor information and to maximise event participation and assist at busy times with ThankQ administration.

4.4To attend various meetings when necessary.

5.0 Other activities

5.1To carry out other activities identified by the Fundraising Manager and/or FundraisingDirector to achieve the overall objectives of the department.

5.2 To act with integrity at all times and commit to our Fundraising team values of trust, honesty and respect.
