·  Meritorious service nominees shall have volunteered their time, expertise, or resources to the hockey program from a minimum of three years.

Hall of Fame Committee:

The committee consists of existing U of D hall of fame members. The role of the committee is to act as a governing body for the nomination and voting process ensuring that candidates meet the requirements to be inducted. Once the committee has confirmed eligibility, the candidate must then be voted in eligible players and coaches. The committee will also ensure that all voters for a candidate on the ballet are eligible. Committee members must have played with or coached nominees to be eligible to officially vote for the nominee.

1. Nominations may be made by any current or past member of the University of Delaware Ice Hockey Team (Statistics and records, personal recommendations by coaches, fellow players, and staff are all considered)
2... The Hall of Fame Committee will screen each candidate. After ascertaining that nominations satisfy the requirements, the nominees are placed on the ballot. (The ballot also carries names of candidates held over from the previous year. These carryover names are decided upon by the Hall of Fame Committee.)
3. Candidates who do not make the ballot must be re-nominated to be eligible for the following year's ballot.
4... The ballot of players and coaches is e-mailed to all eligible members (Current coaches and Alumni), for a member vote, of which results are provided to the Hall of Fame Committee as part of the information for its meeting.

INDUCTION CLASS RULES.

1.  No more than 3 inductees in a given year.

2.  Every Candidate must get ballot approval from the Hall of Fame Committee

3.  Each Candidate must receive at least 70% approval from his voting class with a minimum of 10 votes from that class.

4.  Eligible voters must have coached or played with the candidate for at least one year to be able to vote for a nominee.

5.  Exception Process: The HoF committee will consider nominees that don’t meet the requirements of 3 years of playing at U of D, and/or not graduating from U of D. If the committee feels the candidate is worthy of an official vote, the candidate will be submitted on the ballot but will require an 80% yes vote with a minimum of 15 votes.

a.  Note: A player’s case for exception is not subject to annual review. If a player does not get the necessary votes to have their exception approved, their case will not be considered again for a period of 3 years.

PROPOSED TIMING:

1.  Nominations accepted from September 1 until two weeks before Alumni Weekend.

2.  Hall of Fame committee to put ballot of nominees out to general vote (limited to nominated players teammates).

3.  Hall of Fame committee to meet annually to discuss results and make final decision on eligible class. Class members to be contacted at this time.

4.  Hall of Fame class inducted at following Alumni Weekend.
