The Faculty at East Carolina University College of Nursing is in the process of phasing out our existing “MSN Alternate Entry Option” and replacing it with the Accelerated Second Degree BSN option. We wish to make this change to allow students to earn a BSN degree in preparation for Master’s or DNP programs. The new Accelerated Second Degree BSN option was developed to provide a way for students with a bachelor’s degree in another field to earn a BSN degree in an accelerated fashion. The faculty developed the option and mapped it to The American Association of College of Nursing (AACN), Commission on Collegiate Education (CCNE) our accrediting body for the College of Nursing. The Faculty Organization voted and approved the option. This course introduces the Accelerated Second Degree BSN option students to professional nursing and the essential nursing skills.
