Background to the posts

The School of Medicine at the University of Dundee continually seeks to optimise its performance as a centre for learning. We matriculate around 160 students annually for each year of the 5 year undergraduate curriculum from about 1400 applicants.

uTCGP comprises of General Practice teaching across the years. We have strong connections with academic units such as Public Health as well as Postgraduate General Practice Education and other local primary care organisations via the Tayside Centre for General Practice. The Medical School is situated in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. uTCGP leads the undergraduate teaching of general practice which accounts for approximately 17% of curriculum time.

The postsare part of Dundee medical school’s strategy for developing teaching capacity and experience amongst local clinicians. Expressly designed for qualified general practitioners they have been funded through the redistribution of ACT funding. As flexible part time posts, they is designed to encourage interested GPs to develop the skills and experience to take on substantive undergraduate teaching roles. Clinical Sessions:It is expected that applicants will make their own arrangements for their clinical work as a GP

Reporting to:Professor Maggie Bartlett, Chair of Community Medical Education

Start Date:March 2018

Duration: 2 years (Fixed Term)

2.Job Purpose

Post holder will be expected to participate in and contribute to a wide range of undergraduate teaching activities. In addition, time will be available for training/personal development such as the Certificate in Medical Education. There is funding available to support such training.

7. Programme Responsibilities
