Snow Moot 2009
Snow Moot 2009 is going back in time to the Middle Ages. * Snow Moot will be held at Mt. Nemo Scout Camp, #2 Sideroad, Burlington, Ontario, on Feb. 20th to 22nd, 2009. Please read the following information carefully, and fill out the forms in their entirety.
REGISTRATION:
Once again we will be offering a discounted pre-registration price of $15.00 if you register before February 1st, 2009. Registration after Feb. 1st and registration at the door will be $20.00. In order to be a participant at Snow Moot 2008 you must be a registered member of Scouts Canada or Girl Guides of Canada and be at least 16 years of age. Each group attending must have at least one leader/advisor that is 18 or older and will be attending Snow Moot 2009. With you advisors and leaders attending will register for the low price of $15.00 (No seniors discount this year). If you plan on just coming out for the day $10 or perhaps just the dance you can register at the door for $5.00. All participants attending Snow Moot 2009will be required to sign the appropriate activity waivers issued by Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada.
Snow Moot this year will be holding a Food Drive to support local Food Banks we ask that everyone bring a canned good or a non-perishable food item to help out. Remember Rover’s Motto is “Service.”

CAMPING:
For those of you who plan on braving the elements at Snow Moot 2009, this section is for you. Camping will take place in one of our large open fields and a site will be assigned to you upon check-in Friday night. Groups who are planning on camping outside should come self-contained and be prepared for all types of weather. Firewood will be available for $2.00 a Wheelbarrow. There is running water, but all washroom facilities are located outside in kybos.
Please Note: This year no outside wood is allowed to be brought into CampNemo.
CABINS:
Cabins will once again be offered for use during the weekend of Snow Moot. If you wish to obtain a cabin for the weekend, please read this section very carefully and fill out the cabin application form and send it in with your registration. Cabins will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. In order to guarantee your spot in a cabin it is advisable to register early. All those groups who receive a cabin will get a courtesy call or email to confirm their booking. Groups who wish to receive a cabin are required to send in a $75.00 deposit with their registration. Now here is where it may get confusing, the $75.00 deposit must be made up of 2 cheques.
The first cheque will be a damage deposit for the amount of $50.00. This amount will be refunded after Snow Moot providing that there is no damage sustained to your cabin over the course of the weekend.
The second cheque is for cabin maintenance and will be for the amount of $25.00. This cheque will not be refunded! It is absolutely mandatory that all groups wishing to use a cabin follow this procedure. Those groups not sending in two separate cheques, will not receive a cabin.
If you have a special medical needs for a cabin please note it on the cabin application form. Groups assigned to a cabin will come self-contained and should expect to be sharing a cabin with other group(s), because you will be sharing. There is electricity in the cabins but not washrooms. Please note that cabins will be filled to capacity.
All events are competitive and groups will be awarded points also for participating in them. The more points the better. Events will run all day Saturday and will take place both in and out of doors. Awards will be handed out at closing on Sunday.
FRIDAY ICE BREAKERS:
Yes, by popular demand and the fact our paper cuts haven’t healed from making fake money two years ago, the Ice Breaker events are happening. Come out try you hand or body at these events. Make new friends, meet some old ones, and just sit in the corner and mind your own business. We guarantee it to be a great time for all.
SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE:
Q: What would be a moot with out a Dance? A: A moot without a Dance. Sorry to say, Snow Moot staff likes to get their groove on, so like always we will have the best Moot Dance ever. There will be something for everyone.

A Camping and Outdoor Activity Application, is needed for any scouting camp or outdoor activity. It is your group responsibility to obtain and have filled out the forms, and present with during the Camp. We will not be collecting them, but if asked one must be presented. Snow Moot 2009 Cabin Application
Cabins are available for use at Snow Moot this year. They are equipped with hydro (heating and lighting), but not running water. Groups using the cabins must come self-contained (pots and pans, etc.) and should expect to find themselves sharing a cabin with another group. All groups using cabins for the weekend must have a responsible, registered leader accompanying them throughout the entire weekend.
As far as cabin deposits go we have changed our format again. Deposits are still $75.00 and are made payable to 21stHamilton Rovers. However, the deposit must consist of two cheques. The first cheque is a $50.00 damage deposit check that will be refunded after Snow Moot 2009, provided that no damage was sustained to your cabin during the course of the weekend. As stated, these cheques are refundable and will be returned after the weekend is over. The second cheque is a non-refundable $25.00 cabin maintenance deposit. Please make sure that these two cheques are non-postdated and accompany your registration package when you send it in.
