I would like to thank Mrs.Fahey for taking on the Staff-Assistance role and ensuring the smooth running of the school when I am not available.

“WE SUPER POWERED OUR SCHOOL”

The Great Event at MHES – April 11th

You have no doubt heard that we won a $25000 IT fund from Bureau en Gros for our Wild School Project/environmental literacy program.

We celebrated this occasion with an assembly and tour of the school to look at the plethora of students’ works.

Guests included the manager of Bureau en Gros, our Director General, Paul Lamoureux, Mr.Tim Watchorn, our mayor and Mr. Peter MacLaurin, our Commissioner and municipal councilor.

We were honored with a congratulatory video from Mr. Couillard and MR. St. Denis our MNA.

What an empowering feeling for a small “Anglophone” school – the only school in Quebec to win this honorable prize.

We’re very proud of our achievement!

Our TEAM is powerful!

Please check out our posts on our Morin Heights Facebook page.

Friendly Reminders:

  • Evaluations
Students are currently writing exams and will be continuing throughout May and mid-June. It is very important that they do not miss school needlessly.
  • Lunch Hour Pick-up and Arrivals:
Please make your plans to pick up or bring your child in to school before or after the lunch hour. All school personnel should be able to enjoy an un-interrupted lunch and there will be no one to answer the door.
  • “Good Behaviour” for Bus Safety:

We ask that you constantly remind your child/ren of the importance of safety when travelling on the bus: NO standing, changing seats, throwing items, yelling, hanging out of windows, etc…

MAY EVENTS

Positive Behaviour System
This month we are concentrating on TEAM skills – working cooperatively and learning together.

Graduation Committee:

There are only 2 members on the Grad Committee. This is unfortunate indeed.

There are 30 students graduating! The teachers are taking care of the grad ceremony but the evening dance, (music, decorations, cake, loot bag, etc…) is left to the parents to organize.

If you would like your child to enjoy a grade 6 graduation evening, I would ask that you try to join in with Lisa Dubois and Melissa Waddell in its organization. They cannot do it all!

Any little bit you can do – in a sub-committee – can help make that night a special evening for the grade 6 students. Parents, please step-up!

Grad Fund-Raiser:
The graduation class will be selling pop-corn at morning recess on Mondays and Wednesdays.

This will help defray the costs of the graduation evening.Price of a bag - $1.00

Kindergarten Orientation 2017-18

Orientation for new Kindergarten studentswill take place on May26th. The new studentswill work on an activity while parents will meet with the principal. Parents will be invited to tour the school and receive information. The orientation is important. It acclimatizes the new students to the school and aids the teacher in planning for next year’s initiative in view of the dynamics of the new group.

Diversity:

We will be working on our anti-homophobia activities this month. We will culminate with a celebration assembly on June 2nd when all classes will showcase the work they did in their activities.

Reading Week: Week of May 22nd

We learn to read and then we read to learn! We will have special reading activities during the week to commemorate our wonderful ability to read and learn through books.

Our Garden
Once again, students will be germinating seeds and planting in our community garden. This is done in collaboration with

The wonderful community ladies who are planting and caring for the garden. Students continue to learn all about food gardens through their volunteer work.

A great way to promote an environmental citizenship.
