This week the students will read chapters 9-16, complete their Literature Circle ‘job’ and take a quiz (on Thursday). In addition to this, students will select a topic related to the time period of the Revolutionary War that they would like to learn more about. They will write a research paper, complete with a bibliography, and create a visual project to go along with their research to share with the class. Complete directions and rubric for this project will be handed out early in the week.

Math: We will begin Topic 3, Numeric and Algebraic Expressions, on Monday. Exponents, Prime Factorization, Greatest Common Factors, Lowest Common Multiples, as well as, Writing & Evaluating Numerical Expressions will be covered this week (and that’s just the first three lessons!)

Systems:We are currently learning about Colonization.Students will have a test over chapter 6 on Monday, 10/2, and a quiz over the locations of the first 13 Colonies on Wednesday, 10/4. Students were given study guides last week to help them prepare for both of these tests. Students are also working in groups to create learning centers for their assigned colony region.

Communications: Students will have their final states & capitals test on Friday. This test will cover ALL 50 states. Students must be able to locate each state on a blank map.
