Q514 IPECS Hospitality version 5.5 Fc or laterAuthor: Adrian De La Motte

Topic: iPECS Hospitality

Thanks for downloading this guide. As you probably know by now the iPECS software is available for free download on our dealer web. While you are on the web download the Hospitality manual on the iPECS Manuals page. When you upload the software to the MFIM to initialise follow Q513.

Section 1- How to convert an office iPECS system to a Hospitality system

There is an easy way to change the MFIM S/W from office version to hotel version.

Please follow below procedure.

The MFIM-300 in this example with office version minimum should be 5.5Deor later and follow the below procedure to upgrade it to Hospitality version 5.5Fc

  1. Locate DB initialise switch (4th DIP) 'ON' to initialize DB by default
  2. Rename hotel version ROM file which is the application file(GS96N55Fc_app.rom to >GS96M55Fc_app.rom) Note that just one letter was changed from N to M
  3. Upload renamed hotel version MFIM application.rom file.(GS96M55Fc_app.rom)
  4. When finished restart MFIM, and then the MFIM will be initialized with hotel version 5.5Fc.

Note that you had to upload just one file.

  1. PGM 100 make sure the country code is set to Australia & reset.
  2. After system re-boots & 1st 8024 handset registers - Turn OFF Dip Switch 4 to stop defaulting.

Section 2 - lists the details of the new hospitality pre-programmed default settings. As part of the R&D process we requested LG to pre-program the MFIM to streamline hospitality installations in order for easy deployment.

If you use the IPECS ISDN channels for FAX, program the following for the appropriate FAX extension.

3.1Khz audio = ON

Use T.38 protocol ONLY if required…if you have fax receiving issues. Refer PGM 132.

If T.38 is turned ON on the Co module it must be turned ON on the SLTM as well.

If T.38 is OFF on the Co module it must be OFF on the SLTM module as well.

If you change these options you must reboot the relevant modules.

DELETE SERVICE STATION RECORDS

ROOM CHARGE DISPLAY &Deleting Service Station’s SMDR Record

Description

System Attendant can see Total Charge of a single room or multiple rooms on LCD display, and can print SMDR Records of that/those rooms through RS232-C port or delete service station’s SMDR Record.

Operation

To display Room Charge Information (total charge only);

TRANS/ PGM / + #21 + / Station No. +
( ...... + ) / HOLD/ SAVE

To display Room Charge Information (for detail information);

TRANS/ PGM / + #21 + / Station No. +
( ...... + ) / # + / HOLD/ SAVE

*** You must leave these instructions below with the customer if you have Save turned on!

If SMDR SAVE is turnedON you need to periodically delete the SMDR records with the following command on all service stations including the front desk.If you don’t an alarm will be activated when the SMDR records begins to reach its maximum.

WHEN THE ALARM IS ACTIVATED AT THE FRONT DESK

THIS IS TRIGGERED WHEN THE CALL RECORDS BEGIN TO EXCEED THE MAXIMUM RECORD COUNT AND THE BUFFER BEGINS TO FILL TO ITS MAXIMUM CAPACITY.

FIRST DISARM THE ALARM DIAL 565

THEN DELETE THE SERVICE STATION RECORDS

INCLUDING THAT OF THE FRONT DESK

To delete Service Station’s SMDR record. :

TRANS/ PGM / + #21 + / Service Station No. +
( ...... + ) / * + / HOLD/ SAVE

ALSO CHECK OUT THE ROOMS OF LONG TERM RESIDENTS AND CHECK THEM BACK IN AGAIN

When the SMDR storage pools are almost exhausted, the system gives “Buffer full” warning signal to the attendant. And the LCD of attendant station will indicate how many SMDR records are remained to store at various intervals.

If it’s ignored and no actions taken it reaches the maximum the system will disallow you from making any outgoing calls.

When the alarm is activated you need to turn the alarm OFF first and then delete service station records.

Also consider if there is long term residence checked in that would need to be checked out room cleaned and checked back in again.
*** If you get these warnings and your customer does not have a printer consider why Save SMDR is turned on in the first place. After following the above consider now turning Save SMDR off in programming. In most cases it is not required to be turned on!

Note:

If the configuration is required for call waiting at the attendant station in PGM 120 turn OFF all the preset call forwards.

The default is set for call on internal Busy, Internal No Answer, External Busy, and External No Answer to follow VSF.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. If a msg is not retrieved by the guest who has checked out is it deleted for the new guest at check in?

A. Yes

2.Whena Wakeup call is programmed the customer gets charged a $7 fee can this be turned off?

A. This may be an issue with their front end package. You will need to test out with HyperTerminal.

3.When they ring reception A/H it overflows to a mobile phone they get charged for the overflowed call?

A. This is correct as the Hospitality system is making a call out from the system. The attendant station is a service station and they would need to delete their call records periodically.

A. No all rooms and service stations are displayed.

5.Can ICM to rooms allowed on a permanent basis regardless of the rooms been checked IN or OUT?

6.If a Meta file has been uploaded in the early office version, do I have to re-upload the Meta file for Hos?

A. No, Once the Meta file of any version is uploaded (which is the instruction set to increase its memory) you do not need to re-upload the Meta file.
