The Centre for Health Communication is undertaking a three-year research program on infection control funded by the NHMRC. We are seeking a senior health researcher to conduct research in two hospitals focusing on clinicians’ infection control and contribute to the production of new knowledge about approaches towards infection control.
This innovative project seeks to change health care worker beliefs and practices about infection control in order to lower hospital-acquired infection rates and to strengthen clinicians’ capacity for infection control. For more information on this project please follow the link:
Theproject will:
- engage in continuous surveillance of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (`MRSA’) colonization and infection rates; rapid identification, by routine strain typing, and rapid reporting of MRSA transmission events, and
- provide feedback to frontline clinicians combining MRSA reporting with `video reflexive ethnography’ and hand-washing audit data targeting HCWs’ infection control awareness.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary research team, your previous experience of building working relationships with hospital stakeholders will be key to success in this role.
Salary range: $83,794 to $86,817 pa. The University offers salary packaging plus attractive superannuation.
