Description of Course Content: Instructor Development certification course for the Vector Shield. The following items will be covered nomenclature/Overview of the Vector Shield, movement and stances with the Vector Shield, motor vehicle stops with the Vector Shield, building searches with the Vector Shield and other Law enforcement duties with the Vector Shield. The student will also be instructed how to properly fire their pistol/rifle with the Vector Shield. The student will be instructed on Defensive blocks with the Vector Shield.

Course Objectives:

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, students will be able to:

·  Name each part of the Vector Shield and be familiar with the capability of the Vector Shield.

·  Understand the importance of tactical movement and stances and demonstrate the stances and movement while utilizing the Vector Shield.

·  Be able to conduct motor vehicle stops and systematically conduct building searches while using the Vector Shield.

·  Build muscle memory and fire their rifle/ pistol accurately while using the Vector Shield. Be able to fire their rifle/ pistol while moving with the Vector Shield. Be able to reload their weapon while using the Vector Shield.

·  Deploy the TASER accurately while using the Vector Shield.

·  Perform Defensive blocking techniques while using the Vector Shield.

Students will be evaluated on the basis of two exams, written exam and practical demonstration showing their proficiency in the use of the Vector Shield. In addition, students are encouraged to actively participate in class through asking questions and contributing to class discussion.

Requirements: Students are to come to class wearing their daily work uniform (Train as you fight philosophy) Service pistol and rifle if applicable, 25 yard range (12 fully loaded pistol magazines, 13 magazines for the rifle with 10 rounds in each), TASER with one cartridge, 25-30 small traffic cones (Glass house drills), two vehicles for motor vehicle stops (One vehicle being a Police cruiser), a building with one or more rooms (Building searches, tactical entries), Baton or ASP.

Note: Students should bring a lunch; this class is 8 straight hours, with only short breaks.

Motor vehicle Stops with the Vector Shield

Building Searches and entries with the Vector Shield

Defensive Blocks with the Vector Shield

Hour 4 to 8 (RANGE)

Using the Vector Shield while firing the pistol

Using the Vector Shield while firing the rifle

Deploying the TASER while using the Vector Shield

Written exam, After Action Review (AAR)
