Store Manager Interviewing Phase 3: Paid Trial Day

Introduce them to any employees around.

Give them a quick tour of the sales floor and back stock area. Going into a little detail about the types of products we sell and why we are different than big box stores or even our boutique competitors. Point out a few things and talk about them. Bring those products up later.

Review some of our core customer beliefs. Review the manager and sales associate “Passion Statements” from their job descriptions.

Exercise 1: Report Pulling/Software Savvy

Show them Quickbooks Point of Sale (showing them the layout and where to find most information).

·  Pull a report, turn it into excel, insert rows, delete, sort, formula

Exercise 2: Research & Training

Give them a food vendor website and tell them they need to make a training guide on the three most important things to know about that food. They have 15-20 mins.

Exercise 3: Staff Interviews

Have 1-2 sales associates meet candidate and have the candidate give them a brief description of what their experiences are. Have a couple questions ready for the sales associates to ask incase they don’t have their own. This should take about 10-20 mins.

Exercise 4: Sales Floor/Customer Service

Remind them to be comfortable. Might be weird being watched but its important for us to get a feel for them and for them to be confident.

Tell them how we greet customers, have them watch some sales associates.

If they feel comfortable, they can do it a couple times to show us how their confidence level.

Exercise 5: Sales Floor/Demo

Have them watch a demo of a product, then ask them if they would be comfortable showing the next customer.

Exercise 6: Cash Wrap

Have them watch our process of ringing customers up. Have them give us feedback. 2-3 things they liked and 2-3 ideas/suggestions
