LSTA Members,

As many of you know, former LSTA President Frank Besson has stepped down to assume the role of Captain. I would like to congratulate him and wish him well in all of his endeavors. I, Paul Chamorro, would be honored to be your next LSTA President.

I live in Kenner with my wife and three children. I began my career with LSP in 2001 and was assigned to Troop A. In September 2004 I was assigned to Troop A CPU where I served as team leader from 2005 – 2011. I was promoted to Sergeant at Troop B in 2011 and I am currently assigned to the New Orleans Criminal Enforcement Detail since March of 2015.

During my time in Troop A, I was an active member of our LSTA. I held the office of Treasurer / Secretary from 2003-2008. We sponsored many events that helped members of our community. While our families and friends helped us with these events, our Troop family grew. Members, families, and friends involved with our LSTA developed lifelong friendships which developed a more successful organization. I believe that these relationships are essential to our organization. Our association, without its members and families, means nothing.

Throughout my career I have received many awards and commendations. I have had the opportunity to work, train, and travel state-wide and nationally. From my experience, I can tell you that our agency is far greater than most.

As my current assignment requires me to supervise Troopers on the New Orleans Criminal Enforcement Detail, I have had the opportunity to work with many of you from all areas of the state. I hope that you recognize that I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and that I lead from the front lines. I will apply this approach to my duties as LSTA President. I will work extremely hard to represent you. I understand that this position will be demanding and time consuming. I have my family’s blessing and full support.

I have played softball with many of you across the state and you know how passionate I can become over a game. If you have not witnessed this, please have faith. I promise to bring that same passion and enthusiasm when it comes to addressing your needs as the LSTA President. I look forward to a bright and successful future.

As your LSTA President, I promise to keep you informed of all important issues facing us. In return, I ask you to bring new ideas to the table because, I believe, working together we can do great things. I have led as a young trooper and as a sergeant. Now, I am ready to lead as your next LSTA President.

Please consider me when you cast your vote for our next LSTA President.

Sincerely,

Paul Chamorro
