Goal: To promote and establish a competitive criteria to determine a Michigan operation challenge team to compete in the national event.

Start up training offer: ED Klopf or Doug Koss will offer start training for teams interested in competing
Class:
2 Class are being offer with state approved CEC: (.6 technical category) Flyer for class submitted to MWEA (March 11 & 18)
MWEA to attend: MWEA staff to attend to track CEC and class training – if staff not available committee member to handle
Determine Cost: Ed spoke with Jerry – $75 for MWEA members $118 for non members which will include 1 year MWEA membership if wanted – if class is success Ed to request money for lunch and dinner during state competition for all to compete – must be profitable

Lab: Shanna Shea – SOS labs (tentative yes - need to confirm)
Collection: Vince from Martin for the south class / north class ?
Pump: Goodwin representative – Keith contacted and booked

Promotional:
Ed Klopf - submitted article on national competition and promotional posting for 2008 state in next MWEA matters
Ed will submit last article by March 28, 2008
Publish state winner in local papers – to be done
Doug Koss to send out promotional flyer to all section 11 members to recruit team members for section 11 team
Ed sent same flyer to Keith Moss section 7- modify for section
Ed sent posting via email to WWTP throughout state requesting to be posted at facilities
Ed will look into speaking at regional operators meetings
Section 21 –Curt Goodman has discussed with Ed about speaking at the annual operators meeting in May. (Escanaba)

Committee decided listing in annual conference flyer will not be needed
Maximum team registration 10 teams Registration deadline: May 1, 2008
We will extend deadline if teams show interest!
The lab and process control will be held in room across from conference main meeting area. The safety, collections and pump events will be held outside. The collection and safety event to be held during lunch break outside on patio. Lunch area has wall of glass windows to view. The pump event will be held outside vendor area starting near the vendor display time. Actual start time will be dependent on the number of teams competing.

Ed will look into purchasing a canopy for outside events
Other issues:
a) Event Sponsor Sign: will supply sponsor of event sign – need volunteer
b) T-shirts for teams: each team members will receive – need volunteer
c) Team shirts for national competition with vendors name - Ed
d) Teams Lunch and Dinner: no discount on meal tickets price. Lunch to be served after lunchtime events! Will use outside source to supply. Purchase meal tickets from Boyne for all competing for Monday evening.
e) Overnight Lodging: no discount on lodging price by Boyne Mt. per MWEA contract. - Ed located outside motels and are listed in promotional flyer distributed – more available not listed – Ed recommending Boyne City Motel
f) Vendors / Sponsors: Sponsors donations will be accepted, to be used for T-shirts, team shirts and meal tickets for teams if needed.
g) State event confine space platform needs to be expanded – OC expense
h) pipe for collection event – OC expense
