Open Weekend Volunteer
When: Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April 2016 10.30-5pm
Department: Visitor Services
Where: LTM Depot, Acton Town
Supervisor: Volunteer Resource Coordinator
Every year we open up our collection at the Museum Depot in Acton to thousands of visitors for two weekends only. To ensure we make the day as enjoyable, exciting and visitor friendly as possible we are supported by many volunteers who offer their enthusiasm, support and knowledge. If you are a fan of London’s transport heritage and enjoy interacting with visitors, we’d love to have you on board.
The Commitment we are hoping for: this is a two day event which will require a minimum commitment of one full day, as well as a pre-visit to the site for an induction.
Tasks:
· Primarily supervising the bus and rail collection
· Interpreting the collection to enthusiastic visitors
· Working with a team of volunteers and staff to manage the visitor flow through the building
· Providing information to visitors on the event activities
· Attending a team briefing
Optional Additional Tasks:
· Assist at future LTM heritage events
· There will be opportunities to continue volunteering after the event and to get involved with other aspects of Museum life
Skills, Qualities and Experience required:
· A team player
· Excellent communication skills
· Good presentation skills
· A passion for the history of London and London Transport vehicles
· An interest in London Transport Museum and its collections
