SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director of Medical Staff Affairs, performs complex, diversified administrative, clerical, operational and strategic functions. Plans and coordinates credentialing and privileging process for all Medical Staff physicians,and Allied Health Care Practitioners. Provides administrative support and manages special projects for Officers and Committees of the Medical Staff. Assists with the drafting of delineation of privileges. Responsible for the maintenance of files.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

1.Organizes, reviews, follows-up and evaluates initial, provisional and biennial reappointment credentialing and privileging materials for all Medical and Allied Health Care Practitioners.

2.Supervises the process of granting privileges for proctors for special procedures and/or specific patients.

3.Supervises the organization, review and follow-up for initial and renewal of medical training licensure, unrestricted medical licensure and DEA licensure for physicians and Allied Health Care Practitioners with the PA State Board of Medicine.

4.Assists Director with expediting certain aspects of the credentialing and privileging process.

5.Assists Director with orientation of new medical staff members.

6.Maintains working relationship with PA State Board of Medicine and Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)to resolve problems of IMG licensing and visas respectively.

7.Oversees the preparation of committees of the Medical Staff as required. Attends meetings and drafts minutes. Provides administrative support and manages special projects for officers and committees of the Medical Staff as required.

8.Organizes and ensures that all files contain required documentation according to JCAHO, ACGME and other regulatory agency standards. Follows-up with the appropriate departments, institutions and individuals to obtain required documentation and information.

9.Organizes, compiles and maintains spreadsheets, databases and privileges on Staff Physiciansand Allied Health Care Practitioner. Assists in the preparation and updating of the annual roster of Medical Staff and committees.

10.Compiles, prepares and distributes specialized lists containing information about the Medical Staff members and Allied Health Care Practitioners.

11.Oversees the timely submission of medical staff application fees to finance.

12.Supervises the process of scanning privileges to the intranet, and ensures that the privileges are current.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

13.Assists with various projects.

14.Assists with the maintenance of the Medical Staff policies.

15.Assists in the review and revision of credentialing and privileging procedures.

16.Serves as the backup Joint Commission Medical Staff Chapter Leader.

17.Performs other related duties as assigned.

B.Operating Budget: Responsible to manage to an approved budget.

C.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree preferred, with three (3) or more years of relevant hospital credentialing experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Knowledge of ACGME, JCAHO and PA State Board of Medicine rules and regulations.Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Certified Credentialing Coordinator certification preferred.

D.Other Pertinent Data:Excellent telephone, written and oral communication skills. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and all levels of Hospital personnel.
